    The most frustrating thing about the Xbox, has nothing to do with gaming(what I'd like to ...

    So, the Xbox is very diverse and shows a lot of untapped potential, at least as far as potential features and general functions. That is, it comes so close to being able to sit in place of your desktop PC, but fails to give you that option in the following
    ways;

    a.) No mouse support for desktop operation - I would love to hook my Microsoft Arc keyboard and mouse up to the Xbox and browse around the net and dash environment.

    b.) Freedom of PC - For instance, you cannot Facebook game. One of my favorite things, is waking up before work and competing with my wife in a little Angry Birds tournament, but Microsoft has stuck to their guns on the whole "no playing any free games;
    if it doesn't profit us, you can't play it." They simply block out this ability, amongst others. There would be no harm in giving us that PC freedom because it's not like they are granting people access to the gaming OS environment, just the desktop OS(this
    console has 3 OS's).

    c.) Office and graphics applications - I love to process photos I take on my camera, why couldn't we install Photoshop? If you aren't gaming, the console's 8GB of memory is plenty of muscle to push it. Sure, maybe you can't open up 5-10 RAW image files that
    all range between 300-500mb's, but Photoshop isn't dumb, it will tell you when you're eating up your memory and to close some other projects.

    d.) Xbox Live to use IE - this has to change...it makes no sense. IT didn't make sense when it was the policy for Netflix and it especially doesn't make sense here, although, ultimately you're gong to want an account to game, but that's just it, sell these
    things as a cheap PC, let people decide if they want to game or not. It was a motto Microsoft was pitching early on anyway. Microsoft was urging business and corporations to buy one of these for the conference room.

    Conclusion

    Microsoft developed the Xbox to be able to separate gaming from general tasks. Meaning, the 3 OS's work in harmony to allow complete gaming dedication and to re-divert those resources from gaming, to general dash mode, when needed. A PC, has to share resources
    amongst gaming and things that happen in the background and the most it can do, is "prioritize" the more intense application, but no matter how much Windows knows to focus on the heavier application, you still don't have that individual OS dedicated to games,
    and an OS for general tasks, so some amount of resources is being dumped into background tasks as you game...the Xbox was designed to combat this issue. Give us the option to toss the clunky desktop devices and use this thing in its place, I say. It's cheaper
    than most PC's and powerful and comes so close to the same functionality.

    :)

    ^^^this...took me a good 2hrs to save up 99000 for the PSP...and all i got was second color for my vanguard drell and quarian engineer. just played random bronze...cant find a good random team for silver and gold.

    I got the Reverant II and a Graal in mine. And a "retrain powers" card. I could have got that in a standard Spectre pack.

    I was hoping for an N7 weapon or that Saber everyone goes on about. Something worth spending 5 hours saving up credits and playing with some of the most idiotic team mates I've ever seen.

    That's a lot of text to read so I'll help people out by paraphrasing what you said below.

    Some very valid points there dude, totally agree with you. I have no answers as of why. I have a little nano pc I use for Facebook and forums, also I watch recorded/downloaded TV on it ( The TV license can kiss my a$$ ), I also like to play about with photo's,
    however I don't use raw, but simple cropping would be cool. Even being able to switch it into a simple PC mode would be sweet. IE is not fun, also I still haven't figured out how to use the *** thing. As my PC is hooked up to my TV it's no biggy. However like
    you have mentioned, being able to do a few simple tasks would be sweet.

    I really must ask, what is the point of a console if you want a PC? I'm not trying to be rude or anything but seriously. Most games you can get on Xbox one you can get on a PC. You can hook up a PC to a large Tv just like a console. There are pcs out now
    that are around the same size as the Xbox one and they have all the functionality and more that you so crave. You might as well grab a PC.

    I personally will never understand this concept of people not wanting a PC at all, yet they want the console to do everything a PC does. If a console could do everything a PC does, when does it stop being a console and become a PC?

    PC''s can do a lot of things, and my point is that is that I don't need a big powerful PC. Purely the ability to search the net using Chrome, use the mouse, use a reasonably basic photoshop program would pretty much make my PC obsolete. A PC should be for
    PC stuff, an Xbox for Xbox stuff, I hear that. However as the OP has stated surely the ability to do a few simple tasks for those of us who don't want two systems, this simple set of operations would help. I'm not entirely miffed with my set up, and not griping
    really. Merely the OP bought it up and I thought I'd shed my opinion on it.

    Hey I'm not being rude about it. Ive always been curious about the fact that with these new consoles having so much functionality compared to older consoles, when do they stop being consoles. I mean we can already replace and add hard drive space, use Skype,
    play games, watch tv/YouTube, browse the net, amongst other things. The line certainly is getting quite blurred.

    ^You kinda just answered your own question. They try to make consoles more like pc's, hence all the apps and windows 10 coming to XO so why not make it have full blown PC functionality?

    Photoshop wouldnt hurt it. If i could get Office 365 and Football Manager on the XO i wouldnt need a PC. Maybe thats why people want it?

    Nah it's all good Duffel, apologies if I came across like I took offense. I suppose just using Chrome and the mouse would be cool for me. I know you can get a keyboard to work on it but I don't have a need to really.

    So basically what we are saying is that these are no longer consoles but closed PCs? So in future when I get yelled at for comparing a console to a PC, can I use this thread as an example? Trust me, that's happened more than once on here!

    The way I see it is the more consoles advance the more like PCs they become.

    I see no problem comparing the two as long as it is in context, when windows 10 drops and you can stream from XO to PC there will be very little distinction between the two platforms in terms of gaming if they are running at similar specs. Once all the apps
    get added to XO it will be just like my laptop for me.
