The many benefits of BC on the XB1

Thanks for that story 24hrs. Look like i'm going to buy the 360 trilogy tomorrow and hope ME2 & 3 will be on the backwards compatible list in a few months.

Or all of the Hype about future BC has gone overboard. Never has there been so many people wanting to "preview" the xb1.

I would never purchase a console just for BC that's just dumb. Why don't you play some games that aren't on the 360 like The Witcher3 or Batman Arkham Knight? You can still play your 360 games on your 360 for now. Around Christmas is when BC takes effect
hold on to your XB1 untill then. There are too many good games on XB1 that aren't on 360.

Tough subject for me to comment on because yes I was one of the people that really didn't care if this happened or not because I still have my 360 and I upgraded to the X1 and would rather play the newest games on my newest machine, but now that it's here
im not going to wish it wasn't. Great achievement by the programmers to make it happen and I believe it will succeed and be supported 200 times better than it did when we went from OG to 360.

Everyone will have their reasons for wanted BC on the Xbox One. Some for achievements, some to play that one game or game series that again that won't be remastered (like me - mass effect), and there are other reasons.

But I think now having BC is now a convenience for those who already have a xbox one and for those who still have the 360, it will make the transition to the Xbox one much easier as their investment of 360 games won't go to waste now.

 

I just read about PSNow and I don't really care to get involved with that because it seems unreasonably expensive. But I still have my PS3 and 360 and all my games, so I think that is more for people that sold everything or it's just too much of a hassle
for them to switch a cord.

 

Wow, guys - you really know how to make some negative posts in a thread about the BENEFITS of BC on the Xbox One... ;P

In any case, some benefits I forgot to mention:

- You can broadcast Xbox 360 games live via the Twitch app.

- You can make in-game captures via the Upload/Upload Studio/Game DVR apps.

With the latter of the above 2, you can already see a really cool video I made of Super Meat Boy called, well, "Super Meat Boy" under my profile. I'd link directly to it, but as I'm using the IE app on the XB1, I can't do that right now (something they'll
still need to fix/make easier later on). Let me know what you think!

I didn't expect a huge list for the preview launch. And I don't expect every 360 game under the sun to work in the future. The best part is that it exists and works great!

 

Yeah, it really is great. Despite a few save retrieval issues (which isn't really the end of the world), it's been absolutely perfect!

 

I got a message last night randomly saying that I've been accepted into the preview program from Xbox Live.

I downloaded the dashboard app thing, but how do I access the BC stuff?

Do I need to wait for an update or something?

 

You need the preview update, then use/install one of the games that works, you'll be prompted to download/update, when that's done you're good to go. I used Mass effect on disc and the DL was about 7.9 gb.

I think the biggest benefit is that your games won't die off when the 360 is no longer supported. Some older games may get a renewed fanbase.

 

Blast, I needed help finding the games too. Thankfully, I got help from users on this site, so I'll pay it forward.

1. Phsyical copy - put in the 360 disc and you'll be prompted to download and install the game. You will continue to need the disc to play.

2. Digital copy - go the "My Games and Apps" section of the home screen, then go to "games." Once you do that scroll all of the way to the right where you can see your list of BC games ready to be installed (assuming, of course, you have any).*

* On my console it takes for a minute for this list of games to load up, so if all you see is the store section, just wait patiently and it will appear in time.
