I have to admit, they are pretty damn awesome! My question is how? I was messing in the paint shop for a while and could only really find basic stencils etc. I didn't see anything as elaborate as what you did.

    Anyway, nice looking cars.
My current Upload Clips show my new WIP at various stages. The stencils, that's all you really use. A circle over another circle makes a curve and so forth. The piece can be stretched/ skewed/ sized and so forth but mostly
it's the gradients both the "soft" and the "hard" stretched into the appropriate size and using either above or below to achieve a desired shape/ finish. The opacity also plays an important role in how much either two or more vinyls change into a desired effect.

Yeah and the "basic" solid shapes are used some for throwing down exactly that a basic shape of what it's going to be. You can see some of this on my Forza Thread WIP where the hair as it is right now is just mostly the little curved "moon" and "teardrop" type
    vinyls.

My Forza Thread has some new pics of my Updated WIP. Maybe by next week or so, it will be closer to getting on an actual vehicle.

That's what I thought. You moved little stencils and overlapped them which makes it even more impressive.

It actually gets a lot easier the more you do. It's easiest to start with more simple designs such as either cartoon or anime (or something similar) just to get an idea or to see how you work with each vinyl (or groups). Start
simple and go for basic shapes and colors.

Photo or photo-like is a little different being the basics are the same but the shadows/ colors/ hues and opacity all starts coming into play. The difference between placing a vinyl below another or on top yields different effects as well, so it becomes a trial
and experiment to what looks best.

Anyone who is thinking about trying, I would say give it a try at least. With a little time and practice a small light should snap on in your head and then it becomes much more clear.

How long does it take to create and apply a design like your Kasumi car?
Thank you. To give an approximate, the Kasumi vinyl group alone (just her & the cherrie blossom pedals) is a grand total of 2651 layers and I spent about 25-30 hours to create. Some guys on the Forza forums say they can
finish a "simple" vinyl group in about 4-8 hours. Either way I might be a little slower but FM5 is also my 1st Forza game.

Applying a finished vinyl group can sometimes take almost as long. I found pretty much all cars skew a vinyl a lot going from front to back. This is another issue in itself adding more time to work around. In addition, 3000 layers
group or one side of the car is max. Kasumi being at 2651 layers left little room for other items (Tecmo & stuff). A work-around is to un-group layers that wont be seen and cut them out. In total I probably spent a good 40 hours on Kasumi.

Just a small tip but Snap and IE along with one's subject works great. Nice photo right next to your work and you can scale, compare, adjust and even slide under whenever you want.

There's some videos on Youtube where people do "time stamps" of their vinyl work and it's amazing to watch but i thought it would be a time consuming job.

Good for you though. Your creations truly are works of art.

That's a good point about snapping IE on the side as well.

I've not delved into painting since Forza 2 (and never anywhere near your level) but are you able to create a "Picture" to then apply?

i.e. instead of putting it on the car, you start with a canvass, create your image and then paste this finished image onto the car?

(You may have answered this already but I just want to be 100% sure).

For the YouTube videos, they're actually using the "cut" tool & simply starting at the last vinyl, then cutting back down to the first. They then edit the video in reverse to make it look the vinyl is being applied. You actually
have to either paste, stamp or add a new vinyl for each & every piece. In addition, size it, skew it, color it & adjust opacity.

For the "canvas", yes in a way the vinyl editor under "My vinyl groups" is square one on the canvas. After you work & save there you can later load it onto any car & still add additional vinyl groups or even vinyl layers.

I don't think I have the patients to put together that many layers and all the scaling that goes into that much detail.

Thanks. I haven't been painting in a while but I'll get some more. I have 3 current WIP's but both Fable Anniversary and FF Lightning Returns have been occupying my time recently.
