the LED on the controller wire not lit up when charging

The LED will not light up if there is no Play and Charge batteries to recharge. Even if the LED light is not lighting up, the controller will still act as a wired controller as you intend to use it for.

Is the USB cord connected to the controller and can't be removed? Or are you using a removable Play&Charge cable?

Usually, when the controller shows two alternately flashing LED's, it is a sign that the batteries are almost empty.

If it's a wired controller, it could be, that the wires in the cable are broken, and you have a loose contact in one of the wires (maybe because the cable was bent too much or too often).

In that case, the PC won't recognize the USB device properly, and in the case the controller was connected, the wire inside the cable lost contact, and then connects the broken wire again, the controller might be detected as a new controller device, and
is then assigned the "Player 2", "Player 3" or "Player 4" LED quadrant.

well that is the only option, microsoft will most likely never incorporate a battery level monitor to gamebar when the controller is charging becuase when you plug int he controller it bypasses the battery and is then just a wired controller, i use a third party charging cable, not sure if the original one has the led on the end that goes white when fully charge like the older micro usb one did.

Just a few questions though.

When plugging in any other devices or controls does the cable light up?

Once the USB is unplugged, at the top right of the screen it'll show the battery life of the control.

As stated in this link for support tips on charging controls ---

It says "The LED on a Play & Charge Kit cable will not be lit, indicating there’s no battery available to charge."

Just make sure there is battery life on the control or make sure the cable works, and if not try another cable and just watch the battery life go!

I would say there's not a lot in between the two Samsung TV's. Either would be fine.

Why is the one of the Bravia's £650?

That would probably be the Edge-lit LED tech in the display. What does this mean? Well, put simply, an edge-lit LED TV can be extremely thin, sexy and easy install with a slight reduction in image quality compared to other display types. Despite the difference
in image quality, you'll pay more for an Edge-lit TV.

All the other's look like standard back lit LED displays. A back-lit LED screen has a better picture quality, at the expense of thickness and power consumption compared to an edge-lit model.

When playing games, make sure 'Game mode' is enabled for optimised image quality. This applies to all TV types.
