The Kinect, and what can be done with it?

So, I want to know is this. If I buy an Xbox 1, and this is the HUGE selling point for me, can I box up the Kinect and send it back to Microsoft for a refund on a piece of useless trash? I really do want the Xbox 1, but not for the worst piece of hardware
on the market. Just sayin. They seem to only be selling this PERIPHERAL in the main package, because most people wouldn't even consider picking it up. I know from personal experience about how buggy and awful this thing is, and I wouldn't tarnish my entertainment
stand with this thing even if it were plated with platinum and diamonds.

So yes, my question is as stated.

If I buy the Xbox One, can I get a refund on the Kinect for mailing it back?

Bruno, speech recognition can also be done with a normal mic, all the Kinect voice recognition can be done without additional hardware that they sold with the Kinect 1.0.

 

What can be done?

Seriously, this is a real question. I don't want the Kinect with my Xbox 1. As a consumer, I should be able to choose a package deal that best suits my A) Wallet. B) Gaming Esthetics. And most IMPORTANTLY C) NEEDS.

I can't strain this enough, it is a PERIPHERAL. Not a damn necessity to access the system. This is made evident by the fact the controller unit (A necessity) can handle every function necessary to utilize the systems core functions. Where as the Kinect is
purely a gimmick they're trying to doll up AS a necessity.

Sorry if this post upsets any fanboys/employees. Anyway, just looking for a serious response that will give me the information I'm looking for.

 

Hey Kirn Justin, if you decide to purchase an Xbox One, you cannot send the Kinect back in to Microsoft for a refund.

 

it's part of the package and that's not going to change, deal with it. throw it out, put it in the closet... run it over with your car but that's about all you can do if you don't want it.

 

I wish that were an option, but it isn't. Mine is sitting in the closet. I did try it out for awhile, but it felt too gimmicky and I ended up always using smartglass to navigate. Now I use the media remote.

 

Sorry, but you cannot return the Kinect to Microsoft for credit and not sure why you thought that would even be a serious option. You obviously have not spent time with it evidenced by stating it is "buggy" (which it isn't) but instead have a preconceived
negative opinion about the unit. It is far from useless and there are some functions which do require Kinect to be attached, such as the Upload Studio. It is part of the total package and not likely to change.

 

If you're unsatisfied with it just sell it on ebay like everyone else seems to do lol.

 

Well! Thank you for the info x24hrs2livex. Looks like I'm gonna be waiting for Microsoft to faulter. I don't mind waiting a year or two for them to cut down the package. And if they don't, I at least know the difference between a want and a need, and will
just not purchase it.
