The Ever-persistent party chat mic echo

We’ve all experienced it. Someones mic echoing one or everyones comments non-stop. Now I know there are “proper” steps that can be attempted in terms of hardware, ie checking the wires, cleaning conncetion pins, etc. (and in this case all steps have been
attempted to no success.) But what can be done software-wise to help eliminate this? When the same mic is used in discord there are no echo issues. (All parties using the same hardware, save one: the microsoft branded party chat adapter) If the chat adapter
could be the issue, I would love to know, both why its an issue and how to solve it. Maybe there is some software in discord microsoft can learn from to incorporate into the party chat to help eliminate software echoes?

Party chat and game chat, friend's mic wont echo, but mine always does

So ever since i got a xbox one a few months ago, in party chat and game chat my mic always echos, but everyone else in the party does not have their mic echo. I am not sure if this is an issue with my microphone or console.

Party Echo

So, I have a PowerA 20$ Mic that echos, Now before you say "Buy a new mic" Note: It only echos when in party chat, In game chat it doesn't echo even if someone screams into their mic. My mic has a mute switch on it and when I turn mute on they can't hear
me but they are still able to hear the echo, Anyone know how to fix this party chat echo glitch?

If you hear everyone else in your party echo when in party chat, it is likely due to the Xbox One being set to output party chat audio to both speakers and the headset at the same time.

To change this setting:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings.

Select All Settings.

Select Display & sound.

Select Volume.

Select Party chat output

Select Headset

You should no longer hear the echo.

it depends who is hearing the echo.

if you are hearing an echo then it is most likely that someone else in your party has their mic gain too high and has party chat through their TV or too loud in their headphones. check whose name shows when you hear the echo.

they would need to turn down party chat volume and/or change their mic sensitivity

I just remembered an important detail. If my friend mutes his mic in either of the aforementioned scenarios, the echo stops. In fact, as the echo happens, his ring lights up in the party chat to indicate that his mic is picking up my voice and, once muted,
it no longer lights up.

The only thing to be aware of when using your kinect as a mic is placement of your Kinect. The mic can pick up the sounds from your TV (ie, the game and other people chatting with you) and will allow others to hear or will echo the party chat.

have you tried turning down mic sensitivity and party chat volume in the audio settings?

it's worth trying if you haven't already as that is the cause of most echo in headsets.
