The enforcement Team didn't like my gamertag and changed it but didn't send me a link ...

@bstn617. The way it used to work was a G.T. got reported and a member of the enforcement team would have to check it out; whether it was a legitimate offense, somebody with a grudge, or someone having his friends report him for a free name change. Very
inefficient as there are only so many paid M.S. employees.

With Enforcement United, the G.T. in question gets rated by Ambassadors. I believe if a certain percentage of Ambassadors "flag" a tag it gets escalated to a enforcement team member.

@Satsumo It is very easy to make a list of blocked words and not let you use them this forum does it and so does the gamertag system. So I doubt they would pay me for that system but if they would like to I'll do it.

The tags that get banned after passing through the filter are not a big deal there not swear's or hate those get caught. there usually just funny tags that some baby gets offended by after they lose a game or have a arguement with a person.

If they are going to charge 10$ every time which is a bit much they should have a person review it before it even goes through. So it is Microsofts fault the reason the probably do it like they do is because they make a lot of money of gamertag changes.
To have Ambasadors even involved in the process is not necessary.

The did tell you. It's called the Code of Conduct and Terms of Use. The say what is allowed on LIVE and what is not. If you failed to follow the guidelines in those then it's your own fault.

^Actually, no... it isn't as easy to just come up with a list of blocked words as you think. There are people who use numbers in place of letters, replace certain letters with
others to mask a computer's filtering software... there are plenty of ways to fool a filter and people find a way around those filters all the time.

I remember reporting a GT not all that long ago that (and I won't post the entire GT here, but I'm certain you'll get the idea) was definitely inappropriate. In part, this GT started
out 'BlaxCallMe...' I won't finish what this GT claimed people of a certain skin color called the person. Think that one is 'not a big deal'? Think it isn't 'hate'? Is it funny?

I reported that 'person' without giving it a second thought... and just FTR, said individual was on my team so it wasn't because I lost and I muted almost immediately because of
the speech this person was using, so there was no argument either. Of course, there may be situations where the 4 letters that made the whole GT what it (hopefully) was, used in a different context may be acceptable. But that's the problem. Any filter can
look for letter combinations and maybe even # and letter combinations, but they either can't or don't look for context.

It really doesn't take that much ingenuity for a determined individual to find a way around a filter, so no... it's not "very easy".

 

Actually it is easy. If you have a doubt about it then most of the time it's wrong. Not to mention the fact you can put in words on google and almost all the time it will provide any slang there might be for it.

 

Yes when your charging people 10$ it is very easy. You have a person check it before it goes live like I said.

It's not a free service they charge 10$ they own the responsiblity. Offensive is such a grey area offensive to you might not be offensive to others so where do you draw the line. No Coc or tou is going to help with that it just makes the grey area bigger
to cover there legal tracks.

And I will say again it is easy even the list they can add those combos to the list. The reason they will not do that is because they probably make a ton of money of the gamertag changes.

 

If you get a FNC then it is free. They don't make money off of it. Unless something has changed in the last month.

 

Thats what I was thinking The OP makes it sound as though they don't do a force name change. I wonder if they don't do it anymore.

 

I'm thinking he jumped the gun and picked a pre-made name and now is upset he didn't hold off.

 

Good luck having MS assign (read as pay) a person to check all GTs before they go online, regardless of how much you pay for it. Let me know how that works out.

 

Uhh You think that no matter how much they pay they can't find people to sit there in a office and screen gamertags i don't get it.

It would take no more then 30 seconds to read it. I think they would do just fine.

I'm saying they don't want to pay anyone anything at all... their filter is working 'well enough' for them. It really doesn't matter if it works well enough for you or not.

Yea but just because you didn't like it does not mean it got changed. That takes a majority of all people who were able to vote on those gametags.

 

M.S. assigns names after a F.N.C.. That's why you'll see G.T.s that seem to some "embarrassing". Lol. People were abusing the F.N.C. and having friends report them and a lot of times changing 1 letter and essentially trying to "keep" their old tag.

It's not that hard to come up with a non-offensive G.T.. There is no need for a tag that reads, "Ih4te(Insert ethnic slang)", glorifies drug use, references body waste, or some kind of sexual preference.

I for one applaud M.S. for handing out names such as "lackadaisicalKitten2949494" (Name made up and not meant to identify a individual.). Lol.
