2. This thread is still going absolutely amazing.

Thread count! Gotta get that thread count. Who cares about fruitful conversations lets just banter about what ever!

Lol @fyerball, did GG just ask you if you knew they rules or not, now that is comedy.

3. What're you going on about Listed? I'm having a largely constructive conversation with many people here about the rules of Xbox Live, barring a few posts. As far as your comment about me and fyreball is concerned, I was doing nothing of the sort.

The Do's and Don'ts of Xbox Live

Galactic Geek quote about me

"Bstn's initial post alone is proof of that, so yes, an occasional reminder from me I think is fine."

That's how your wrong though my post was honest and represents IMO 95% of XBL and PSN users. I did not read the rules and don't care what they are point blank. And guess what I have never had a action taken against my account in the 5 years I have played
online becaues I am not a jerk regardless of your opinion of me.

Those rules you quoted are for people like you and lawyers... Even though you like to act all peaceful actualy you like to stir the pot in a passive aggressive way.

And most important it's not your place to lay down the law let the people who's job that is take care of it. Too many rules could ruin online play just look at these forums as an example of that. People complaining about the rules and crying and look what
we have now a near dead forum because it became to strict now almost nobody posts anymore.

Simply put have an conscience (and exercise it) and play fair. You're allowed to quit (but don't abuse it like quitting a lot in one day on purpose) and unsporting try to stick to the objective but you don't have to stick to it 100% rigidly.

I haven't read the TOC and that kind of stuff word-for-word that stuff is like for lawyers. Maybe if it were for an assignment. I get the gist of it though. Sometimes I go a bit wild with friends and stuff but it isn't anything bad. If you make a light booboo
on the forums the mods don't throw a penalty they just imply please stick to topic or this is a no go and they don't shove it down you. I've seen they sometimes allow threads to go off topic a little (but not overly). Having rules is necessary but running
it like a dictatorship where you have no or little freedom would be harsh. Everyone can view this info easily M keeps it at the bottom of every page on this site. I and even my parents don't even read the manuals to our watch, phones, TV's word for word. It's
typical of my generation maybe for others also on here too. Just know the "gist" of it and you should be alright. Some peps want to read it and study it in detail like G too. That should be alright as well as long as it doesn't purposefully break the rules.

6. Rules are made to be broken, for if everyone kept them, then their wouldn't be any need for any.

I've only been an XBL subscriber for some two years. Playing Halo 4 online, I learned that you can get a bad rep simply from playing with people who think you should have wasted that camocamper before they took them out. Thus the next time you play Halo
4 that same person wont play the game with you simply because you're in it. Times that by whatever, and you begin obtaining a bad rep. Never mind that you have only the use of only one hand, and are trying to do your very best with a controller made for a
person with full use of both hands. I haven't played online in well over 6 months, and have NEVER quit during a game. Yet my rep is like only 60% GO FIG!

Thus from my perspective the rules, and the system are seriously FLAWED!

Now for the other side of the coin. Modders. It don't catch them. YOU (The Gamer) has to report them otherwise no-one would ever know. That makes the system Human, and if a human decides to "ban" someone, or have someone banned. Then you know full well that
they aren't going to reverse it for anything. Even if they know they are wrong!

7. bstn, I hold no grudges or have anything against you. It's the fact that you simply don't care that bothers me. Sure, most of the CoC is common sense stuff, so anyone with some sense will be able to follow it easily (and I'm glad that you do), so you're
right - you don't need to know it word for word. But that's not the point - the point was that people don't always seem to understand how the system works, why they got into trouble, and are constantly asking questions about it here - this was simply a reminder
of that and nothing else. I wasn't trying to stir the post, as you say, at least not intentionally.

ABOUT ME:

I can understand if I come off as a "rules lawyer" at times (that's what my brother calls it), but that should be taken with a grain of salt. As with the CoC, if you follow the rules (as I'm sure most of you hopefully do), you'll have nothing to worry about
from me. As for whether I may be a hypocrite or not, I think that's besides the point because everyone's a hypocrite at some point or in some way when it comes to the rules - it's just a matter of how much any particular individual breaks those rules (and
which ones since some are more severe than others). I simply do the best I can to follow those rules, and minimize any infractions on my part (accidental or otherwise), which is all anyone can ask of me.

The only reason I get so much flack is because I used to exercise my rite to report someone and often did it face to face with the person I reported in some misguided attempt that I could get them to understand what they were doing wrong or to "rehabilitate"
them. Because of that, many people now automatically assume I am the reason action was taken against them even though that's not necessarily the case. As a result, many people like to hold a grudge based on my past actions and tend to try and blow it back
up in my face and start attempting to place blame towards me instead of taking responsibility for their own actions that they were reported for in the first place. It also doesn't help that I'm a defensive person when I believe that someone is attacking me
in some way.

I like to think that I've improved greatly though with a lot of the issues people have had with me in the past. I'm reporting people less and when I do I do so privately, I don't spam messages anymore since I can use the new feed system implemented on XBL
for that instead, I don't complain about minor things like teabagging anymore (although I still don't approve of it), and I've become far more careful with what I post in most cases.

Regarding this particular thread and others like it that I create, they're a dime a dozen nowadays. I don't usually make one for months at a time and usually, it's a response to something else (like the 2 or 3 other threads recently posted about the reputation
and enforcement system in this forum). So, again, don't sweat it. Either ignore it and it will simply go away to pages past or if it truly bothers you that much feel free to report it - as always, I will not take it personally.

...but I digress - to each their own.
Rules are made to be broken, for if everyone kept them, then their wouldn't be any need for any.
Well, that certainly is an interesting way of looking at it. It's a logical statement to be sure, but I personally believe that that's the wrong way of looking at it (nothing against your views of course). While you're right that it's virtually impossible
to follow them all of the time, that's exactly why they're there in the 1st place - as a guideline or reminder of how to keep things orderly and the majority of people happy; it was never meant to prevent it or stop it completely - the actual enforcement actions
are what do that.

While I sympathize with your hand issue, I still find it hard to believe that your rep went down simply because you were unfortunate enough to play with jerks or because you were less skilled than everyone else. Regarding that, I don't think I'll get anything
from it, but I've reached out to an enforcement agent asking about that particular scenario that many of you are using as an example (being reported multiple times over a long period of time for poor skill or beating others) and whether there are steps to
prevent that sort of thing from being abused, so we'll see where that goes, if anywhere.

Perception is, IMO, an evil and wonderful thing at the same time and should always be considered carefully. My perception is that the system works great!

I also have to disagree with your last statement:
Then you know full well that they aren't going to reverse it for anything. Even if they know they are wrong!
To put it bluntly, it simply isn't true - there are numerous
recorded cases where suspensions and bans have been reversed. A good example is when someone on the Xbox 360 put "save the ta-tas" in their motto. It had been reported as being sexual in nature and the individual was banned. That particular individual made
their case that they were simply supporting an anti-cancer agency and the decision was reversed.

12. LMG, while it may not necessarily seem like it here in this thread, I do have quite a few friends I can depend upon, both here on this site, on XBL, and elsewhere. The Do's and Don'ts of Xbox Live :)

As far as snitches go, that's dependant entirely on who you're talking to - the snitch him or herself, those who are guilty, those who aren't, and those in charge of dealing with the situation all will have different, and therefore subjective, views on a
snitch.

The problem with online gaming and forum's in general?... People take them way to seriously. I have never reported anybody for their behaviour in a game because I just don't care. I have bigger real life problems to worry about, not some kid acting up online.
If everybody stuck to rule's in life, the world would be a very dull place.
