I " almost " bought The Division yesterday only to be held back by my disappointing experiences with the games of the Xbox One generation. These games (the ones that disappointed me) were claimed by many to be amazing, fantastic, and great.

" I " did not share this opinion as my thoughts on them were very different from that of the general consensus.

I would list the titles of these games, but I am not looking forward to the evisceration that will surely follow up once they are listed

So I decided to preorder.......

I would wait for reviews of Watch Dogs. I don't see the appeal at all from what I've seen. The Division looks much more intriguing.

 

Day one friends

Yep Day One pre-order here with Forza, Ghosts, and Watchdogs in reserve. By next spring I want The Crew, Witcher 3, The Division, Titanfall and depending on reviews, "Dying Light". Am I being to greedy here?

 

I think the content is too mature for your personal tastes. And there's crafting....

 

Loads of solo content and outside the Dark Zone no one will bother you. But it does have crafting and plenty of vibration. Great map for just bimbling around exploring for collectibles.

it's a good game.

People say it's like "Destiny" because the internet told them to say that.

It's like playing a "Battlefield" game that's not actually crap with a Gears of War cover system.

There is no Gjallahorn or other exotic "One Gun To Rule Them All".

It's a rewarding loot progression that seems to give you what you need.

Paying a little attention goes a long way but if you blow a mission because you didn't realise you had to guard multiple crates... it will let you redo it.

The Darkzone is PVP and PVE.

You go in there and it's the ONLY place in the game where another human can kill you.

But that doesn't mean that they will.

The whole point of the game is that a virus has hit New York City and the "Dark Zone" is the most contaminated area.

Here you will meat harder bad guys (and they different sections of the zone for lower and higher level characters) who will drop better loot.

However because it has been obtained in the Dark Zone it cannot be taken from the Dark Zone but has to be extracted by helicopter and decontaminated. You can then collect it from your stash at your base.

You can only extract from an extraction zone. You go there and put up a flare to call the helicopter. A timer appears and when it arrives a rope descends, you tie your loot to the rope and it is taken up and "extracted".

However everyone else will know that someone has called for an extraction.

So technically, I could rush to the extraction point and shoot you, pick up the gear your dead character dropped and then attach it to the rope myself and get it is MY loot.

However other people want to extract their loot too. If any player shoots a non hostile agent they are immediately lit up as "ROGUE" and get a bounty slapped on their heads and everyone else in the Dark Zone will be shooting them.

If you've got a good 4 man decent levelled fire team then going rogue can be a viable option. Stealing stuff from others is lucrative though and it's much harder for rogue agents to be extracted.

I found that rogue fireteams can be easily avoided if you're by yourself and careful and if you've a fire team of your own you can fight back.

So that's a bit more info.

The most telling fact about this game so far?

They've done a good job on release and people are loving it.

So they jacked the price up on the Digital Marketplace and even on disc copies.

 

Yes Badger. Bimbling is mooching around the map, in no particular hurry, taking in the sights and mopping up collectibles...

 

If you have a problem with profanity, this game is not for you.

I have been asked by the wife to wear my headset while playing from now on because my son told my wife "Daddy's playing the bad word game".

Kids hear everything. Even when they're supposed to be sleeping!

I'm not a Destiny guy myself but I do enjoy the missions in the Division and the fact that if an area is too difficult solo, that Co-Op is always an easy option to jump into.

Also, The Division has an interesting story (something Destiny lacked for the better part of a year) and great RPG elements like crafting and leveling up skills and perks. The base building is cool as well and seeing it progress makes you feel like the
missions you're doing is making a difference in taking back NYC.

The Dark Zone is totally optional but is fun if you don't mind an area where there are no rules to dictate gameplay.

(1) Vibrations = This has to be " off " for me to play that game.

(2) Mature Content = I've played all of the Hitman games (except Absolution), The Walking Dead seasons 1 & 2, Dead Island 1, and all of the Dead Space games.

(3) Crafting = I absolutely loathe crafting.

(4) Battlefield = I've never played any of these games.

(5) Gears Of War = I am familiar with the cover system because I tried it before, it works very well but I am not a fan of this series.

(6) Darkzone = This is the " War Zone " (Halo 5) version of The Division.

(7) Being able to solo everything = This is very good news.

The dark zone is just an area where players can kill each other.
