The Division & Rainbow Six Siege without XBOX Live Gold

Can you play The Division and Rainbow Six Siege with just an XBOX Live Silver account? Can you play all the features while connected to XBOX Live, via a Silver account, or do you HAVE to have an XBOX Live GOLD account? I was going to get these for my son,
but it seems pointless if he doesn't have GOLD. Not sure if I want him to have a GOLD account yet.....he's new to gaming. Is there anyway to find out about if games require XBOX Gold to play, before you buy them, if you buy most of your games online......I

OK. With XBOX LIVE GOLD, is there a way for me to set it up so that he can play, but not allow messages to be sent to him, or be able to hear chat from other players? Also, is there a way to NOT allow him to purchase anything via XBOX live? About 4 years
ago, we had issues with all of the above, which forced me to not renew his Gold account.

I'd like to allow him to play these games, because they look awesome, but can I block messages, block chat, and block allow purchases (or at least require a password to buy something)?

 

How old is your kid? You're happy for him to play 18+ rated games but not be able to receive messages, chat and have your trust not buy anything on Live???

Besides, if he doesn;t have your cc info either at hand or have it stored on the account he can;t buy anything

Just buy him Rayman or Zoo Tycoon and be done with it

 

I figured this would get into that. He's 13. Those kiddie games don't hold his interest. I'm not a parent that is strict about games being M. Allowing him to play some M games, has opened up a lot more games to play, and he is more interested in gaming
now. When I said he was new to gaming, I should have said "he would be new to multiplayer gaming". He's been "gaming" for awhile. I know some feel that is terrible to allow him to play M games, and that is fine, but that is not me. I like playing these
games with him, but I don't like him playing with immature teenagers, who are constantly saying derogatory things about woman, etc. I thought you had to have a cc stored into the XBOX live account?
