The controller update bricked my controller.

Hey, everyone! Popping in here to give you all a ninja update!

There was a new update for consoles that came out late last night. It's not mandatory yet, so I ask that all of you update your console. You can do this by going into Settings > System. There will be an option to update your console on the
right. If you don't see it, go into Console Info and see if your console is on the

current release of the operating system.

Once you are on the newest OS for the Xbox One, please try to connect your controller that does not connect wirelessly via a USB cable, and wait about 10 seconds. You should then be able to disconnect your controller from the USB cable, and your controller
should work wirelessly again!

Please give this all a try. So that everyone can see this post, I've verified it. Let us know your results as soon as this is done so that we can pass it on to the right people. :3

Here is what worked for me. Power on the console. Take out the batteries of the controller and plug it in via the side usb. Then wait a couple of minutes. It should eventually start working.

I am experiencing similar problems after updating the controller firmware and system firmware. When I click on anything when I first get on it does nothing. I have to keep clicking until it works. Another thing that works is that if I shake my controller,
it responds then. When I am in COD MP (AV, Ghosts) or Battlefield 4, without touching my thumb sticks my gun gun will automatically point up to the sky.

I have tried everything recommended in the xbox site regarding unresponsive controller. I power-cycled the system.. I have replaced my batteries... I have connected it with the USB cable for a few minutes (not sure if it was 10 seconds), however when I
go into a COD MP my gun still drifts up to the sky.

Any suggestions?

I plan on contacting MS later tonight to see what they will do? I have a feeling they are going to tell me to send it in for repairs or buy a new one.

A fiend of mine has not applied any updates to his system and controller and has no issues. I would tend to believe that MS didn't beta test this update as usual and making us be their beta testers. What else to expect from CMMI Maturity Level 0 (zero)

Did you do the second update?

As Misses Quinzel said above, there's an even newer update you can apply.

Try looking for it if you haven't already, and follow the instructions. Do not try to update your controller again after the latest update, just connect it via USB for a minimum 10seconds.

My bricked Titanfall controller is working wirelessly again.

Wonderful...after I already sent my controller off (bangs head). I might as well have lit my money on fire instead of shipping it and waiting three weeks.

I always wait to hear from support before doing anything, as frustrating as that can be sometimes.

xenomorph v1 - I discovered that the thumb-sticks are broken. I did some research and found a youtube video of a guy fixing his Thumb-Sticks. His description about his problem were exactly the same as mine. Since my controller is a year old the 90 warranty
is over. So I bought a new controller and it works fine now. It had nothing to do with the update. I updated the new controller and do not have any issues.

Thank you this worked for me as well. I tried a few times and it didnt work, but make sure there is no batteries in the controller before you connect via usb. I think that may have been my issues.

Also, do a hard restart of the console, make sure the batteries are out. Connect via usb and wait 10 seconds. If the controller doesnt light up try using a second working controller and go into settings >devices and then unplug and reconnect the controller.
Then it might come up. It did for me.
