The configuration registry database is corrupt (Windows Store)

Registry corruption, missing system files, incorrect configuration, incompatible Windows drivers, and virus or malware attack on your computer cause Windows error code 0x800701E7. System fails to start
or error message displayed on the screen in this situation. Update error, stop error, BSOD error prompts on the screen.

I don't think the game is the cause of your mistake. In any case, try to stop the game installation. Uninstall it. Fix corrupt system files if there are any. Then try installing Gears 5 again

I'm having this exact problem and I ran the diagcab. It found four problems, of which it solved two.

It could not fix 'Service registration is missing or corrupt' (shows a red cross) and it did only establish that 'Windows Store-configuration is possibly corrupt' (shows a yellow exclamation mark).

It fixed 'Several security settings are missing or were changed' and 'Windows Store-cache is possibly corrupt' (those show green checkmarks).

It seems some necessary Windows files are missing or corrupted, sadly, just restore Windows was not enough to fix that...

Sometimes it can be caused by power failures, or by installing / uninstalling apps that can affect the Windows registry / files....

Exactly my friend, it's very weird.

But to be honest, Forza Horizon is just buggy. The developers now that but they're not doing anything to fix it.

Several players says that they can play the game normally for weeks, then all of sudden it starts to crash and never (or almost never) return to normal.

In my humble opinion as a system development student, it's probably something with the game database on the computer (or on registry) that can get corrupted and normal uninstalling methods do not remove it.

Or maybe a library file (.dll file) on the Windows/System32 folder that is corrupted by the game. Some .dll files can get corrupted when used by some games and installing the original again can solve the problem. But to find out which .dll file got corrupted without the game generating an error log is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

• 3rd-party Antivirus is creating a conflict that is preventing the update from installing.
• Corrupted files in Component-Based Servicing (CBS) or in System Component Store.
• Some services required by WU are manually disabled.
• Corruption within the Registry files.
