The 12am/ 3am activation

HavoC618 - That technology already exists, it's just a matter of bothering to implement it. Just throw a freakin "if" statement in installer's code somewhere so that the game doesn't unlock unless it happens to be 12am where your ISP is located. Big deal.

I speak for EVERYONE not in the PDT timezone, not just myself. It's hardly fair when, historically, midnight release has always been relative to where you are located and not by any one specific coast. You're the one that stepped into my topic, if you didn't
like what I had to say, then simply roll your eyes(or whatever it is you do) and leave just as gracefully as entered.

 

You DO NOT speak for everyone outside of the pacific time zone. It is foolish to even begin to think that you do. And this is not your topic/thread/forum. These are the xbox forums. You have no more right to post in them as anyone else does. You also have
no right to tell others not to post or to leave the conversation. Finally the xbox marketplace has NEVER released anything based on a customers time zone. Almost everything is released around 9AM eastern. So before you claim to be speaking for anyone other
than yourself at least gather a little info on what you are speaking about first.

 

Graelock, I understand the tech is there, it is just that MS has chosen not to utilize it for whatever reason and that is their prerogative. It just appears that they feel more comfortable with releasing the digital version at 12:01 AM PDT and that is the
time they are going to release it. Like I said, I get the aggravation, I really do. I wouldn't blame you or anyone else for wanting to play the game as soon as it is available to others in the area. Nor do I think explaining a personal distaste is a bad thing
as it makes the product better when those things are addressed. However I am also saying that there is another side to the coin that needs to be looked at too. None of us are programmers for the LIVE service so what we may think is a simple task may actually
cause more problems than it is worth to MS or their digital audience. Who knows, it may be being launched at that time to stagger the traffic some. The techs may have decided that three hours would be enough time to fix any unforeseen problems that may arise
before the digital crowd began logging on and really slamming the system.

Either way, I am logging off (I have a physical copy to pick up tonight and need a little sleep for my all-nighter) but I hope to see you in-game and that you enjoy Destiny so much that the waiting, anticipation and aggravation was worth it.

It IS pretty lame. Especially seeing how when we're permitted to actually play it, we'll need to do an hour or so of installing before we can actually play it. So, even more waiting.

It's not THAT big of a deal to me, but yeah.

 

I'm not happy about this at all. A head to work around 4:30am est. I did preload it a week ago. My solution is I'm going to go buy the game at midnight and hope the game will not need to install because of the preload . My bank will refund me . In
the end Microsoft is going to lose out ..

 

Agreed. Won't be going digital again if this doesn't change. And that ultimately means less money for MS because I won't be buying directly from them. So yes, they should care.

 

I am confused...I mean I understand wanting to play a game, but just because you lose out on 3 hours (at max, might I add), all digital versions of games are bad? Can someone explain to me why this is so horrible?

 

@spyroman12 The problem is that staying up till 3 am is a chore. I enjoy staying up and grabbing new games I'm excited about (used to at Gamestop), taking them home and playing for a couple hours. With this digital release time (which I didn't realize at
the time of purchase), I now have to stay up until 3 am and start playing then. The alternative is go to sleep and play the next morning. I already have insomnia. Sleep is hard enough as it is. No way I will be able to sleep knowing it releases at 3 am.

It's not about "3 hours". Its about 3 hours later into the already late night. While physical disc buyers are happily playing at exactly midnight...

 

The only people that benefit from this are those in Hawaii.

 

This is stupid Xbox you really got my hopes up this really did cut it for me,this game may be major playstation but I was getting pumped for preloading holy crap I was pumped, but now I have to wait three hours to play this, probably by far the worse thing
ever never getting digital now every retail purchase has a huge head start, that's fair.

 

I love how the guy up top is saying its just a game, that's $60 dollars that we spent on a broken game already.

 

so...to those who had to wait until 3...was it the worst thing ever? Did your world end?
