Xbox Live not downloading new gold purchase

I am having a similar problem. Purchased 12 Month Live Gold Subscription Prepaid Card, entered the code online, and both online and on the console our Live account shows us to be a 12 Month Gold Member, but it won't let my kids start or join a party. Says,
"You must be an XBOX Live Gold Member to join a party." What????

Have Xbox live but cant play online

I redeemed a code for 12 months Xbox live on the Xbox website on my computer and it' come up I have a 12 month subscription but when I go to play online on the Xbox it just says I'm not allowed to play online and takes me to a screen for buying gold membership
even though I already have a 12 month subscription, any ideas?

Are you still experiencing issues with your Xbox Live Gold and accessing online matchmaking? If you haven't already, try holding down the power button for 10 seconds or so and seeing if that helps. You can also try

removing your profile from your Xbox One console and seeing if that helps. If that doesn't help, you may want to reach out to
phone or chat support to have them take a look at your account a bit further.

Microsoft has stopped selling 12 month subscriptions through them, but you can still buy them as a 1 month or 3 month subscription or buy 12 month prepaid codes from other retailers. Gold is still required to play online with other people.

Game Pass Core will give you the ability to play online (Game Pass Ultimate also includes Core). Microsoft no longer sells 12 month subscriptions, but you may be able to find 12 month prepaid codes at a retailer.
