That was the final straw for me.

As for being ''terrified'', that's the result of the X360. I thought that the One would be more reliable-it's less reliable. At least the X-360 sometimes managed to work for 20 hours per year without failing. This one failed after six hours of use spread
over three months.

I bought this console simply to play Rise of the Tomb Raider. The failure after one hour of playing this game demoralized me to the point of giving up altogether on gaming and buying TR for PC.

^this, CoD is pretty much dead to me with the way they have gone the past few years. Ghosts was the final straw in the stack for me.

 

Yes, I'm too stupid to play a X-One, I know. I was not too stupid to pay for it, however-with my money and not mommy's cash, should I say.

I would like to know what trick you geniuses use to make this abomination play DVDs. You must know a mystical technique to make the ''Blu Ray'' app work. Or have paid for a special console. Me, it's not working,.

(And I tested the same DVD on a laptop, on a PC, on the new Blu-ray player I was forced to buy this morning, on the PS3, even on the X-360, and even on my decade old DVD player-it worked flawlessly)

You clearly have a faulty console and it's on you for not getting it repaired. I've been using my X1 daily since launnch, played a ton of Tomb Raider, streamed many videos, a lot of those were AVI, from PC and a NAS.

Fix your console.

 

Can't tell you if it plays dvd's, I haven't used one in year's. I know for definite it plays CDs though, so you'd imagine it would play a dvd......buy who knows.

 

I suppose that by ''fixing'', you mean resetting to specs. That was done four times already.

Send it in for repair. You should've taken it back to the store when it first started acting up on you. Send it in for a repair before the warrant expires.

That's the same trick that when a PC game don't run-basically, just tell the guy ''to update his drivers'' and ignore the complaint.

 

The controller had absolutely nothing to do with the batteries leaking. Perhaps it was faulty batteries therefore blame Duracell. Although, Duracell makes an excellent product I am sure they do at times have some production issues. No wait, it that possible
all products for all companies are perfect out of the box. Silly me.

 

Personal experience has taught me that leaving even a great quality battery sitting unused in a device for a long period of time will increase the risk of it leaking. I've never had a battery that leaked in a device I used regularly. I've had plenty leak
in devices that just sat around for long periods, not touched. That isn't the device's fault.

OP's story doesn't add up. If I paid that much for something and only had about 6 hours of time on it, then stopped using it because it had an issue that "terrified" me, I'd have checked on the warranty and returned it immediately after the issue... especially
if support was of no help.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to sound harsh... but even if the console was faulty and needed service (which would indeed be upsetting), the bigger problem IMO was a series of bad decisions after the issue presented itself.

 

Mine plays DVDs. Haven't tried in a long time I do use the blu ray player daily though

 

A new low in the field of high technology : a console can't play dvds,, but Blu-Rays.

For the record, I paid hundred of dollars for a piece of plastic that

A)can't stream

B)is very unreliable for playing games, cue to buying Tomb Raider on PC a second time to avoid playing it on the X-One

C)can't even play DVD or Blu-Rays, go on Netflix, etc.

When, I'm sorry to say that, a 80ish bargain bin blu ray reader can do all that-like the one I was forced to buy this morning, because my brand new console can't even read reliably DVDs.

Is there something more rock bottom than that ? ''I want this 400$ overpriced abomination to be able to play DVDs''.
