Thanks for the perfect "Lie."

Why does my xbox one stop installing NHL2015 for a 1.3GB download? I don 't get it, every game I have tried to play so far on my Xbox 0ne has required updates before any gameplay was allowed! FOWL, I say because my PS4 doesn't require me to even be connected
to install a game to play off line. The interface is archaic and it's eveident why I had my xbox one in the box for over a year. This sucks,So before you xbox fanboys start ripping my post , I have owned a 360 and a ps3 and had not EVER has as much trouble
as this new high tech living room, all in one box console. It's depressing ti know that "Tweenners," sit back and just accept MMSN's service flaws, if they worked and bought their systems , they would feel different.

If you're not online nowadays, it means you're probably living under a rock.

Of course, you could always go into the console settings and choose "go offline" under the network menu - that usually does the trick.

You edited your post and provided a solution but the OP isn't complaining about not having an internet connection but rather how the One installs games.

Someone at MS should probably look at how Sony handles it. No user input required to install a disc, then play and still be downloading the update.

 

don't worry everyone that owns an xbox one nows how crappy microsoft can be, but it's still always better than the alternative of sony. how can you complain about an update for a game?

 

Phil Spencer has already acknowledged the long install times and whatnot and stated they are working on a solution, at the same time, game developers can also have part of the blame for not having a finish product before releasing it.

 

He's not complaining about the update.

I own both systems as the OP apparently does and the PS4 installs the game and allows it to be played without requiring the update but the update is still being downloaded. GG gave him the solution to do the same thing on the One but without the update being
downloaded as you play requiring you to go back online and download it at a later time.

The PS4 gets you to the same place with fewer steps and hoops to jump through. Personally I don't lose any sleep over it but the PS4's method is convenient.

 

I would think Microsoft is going to address the way games install...eventually. For now I just "Go Offline", install, then go back online for the updates. Take Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, took maybe 10 minutes before it was "Ready To Play" (20 or so to
be fully installed.), then when I went back online for the 12Gb update it was ready to play immediately, and it downloaded and installed the updates in the background.

Each system has flaws. The difference between someone getting a system given to them versus buying their own is simple...take it back if you're not happy with it; something you can't always do with a gift.
