Um... I live in Australia. I know we are sadly lagging behind most other developed countries when it comes to our internet infrastructure.

It seems like you have overblown this whole thing... And made it into a "thing"...

I was just pointing out a disparity between the correlation of how modern a country is based on its internet infrastructure alone.

You think that an dedicated server across an mass of water is better than player 2 player connections. I don't believe this to be correct yet as it takes time for your signal to bounce from and back to. Then find it's way through Aussie infrastructure is
time consuming .

P2P is not terrible if the host has the better connection and keeps players joined strictly their own region.

The term "relatively modernized" just struck me as something Aussies sometimes encounter... Which is the assumption that we as Aussies have Crocodiles in our back yards as pets, or ride Kangaroos, or a myriad of other misconceptions.

My reaction would be the same as anyone's that felt their country was being portrayed in a less than accurate light.

And the reason for this poor internet has alot to do with a monopoly in the Telecommunications business for way to long as well as poor government and geography. But yes we are quite modern. My iphone wifi still works from the outhouse.

 

@listed yes a dedi in south asia is better as that P2P match will be taken over from a US or euro gamer joining or from an Aussie with a super poor internet connection.

 

Yes that is very true, reason reason why I put host would have Keep "as long as game allows host control" the game free of out of region gamers.

The guy with the bad connection. Well if he's that good a partner he needs to be talked into considering stronger connection. If of course the guy has the ability budget wise.

 

It's not necessarily budget here. I have the best I can get for what's available in my region. That is only ADSL2 with a max speed of 20mb/s Down because of where I live I can only get 8.5 down. I used to live in the centre of town and could get 17mb/s.
Friend of mine in another state was on 2.5 mb/s and had to move to get better lucky for him he's a renter I am not.
