    Terrible Download speed


    My download speed on my computer is 30mbps on my xbox ive been download halo 3 which is 6 gigs on my computer i can download that in 5 mins on my xbox ive been downloading it for 4 hours i then went to check my dl speed on my xbox and its 60kbps which is
    terrible why is my download so much i pay money for xbox live not for my download speed to be so bad it should not take me 4 hours to get to 50 percent . What is the solution to fix this terrible dl speed on my xbox .

    The download speeds are terrible. A 1GB download takes like 3 times longer than an Xbox 1GB download

    Sounds like you need a PC buddy.

    In regards to your download speed, I would look at getting a different ISP. Your download speeds are terrible. It sounds like you have a dodgy connection.

    OK what type of connection fibre or satilite o r cable or DSL or lte modem

    If anythimg but cable or DSL you need to work with your ISP to adjust your settings for gaming

    Also does your account region match your actual location?

    That may be the case, however it's far more likely that the issue is on your end, if it wasn't then you'd see the forums flooded with the same issue.

    I would suggest rebooting your router and possible setting up Port Forwarding (steps here:

    support.xbox.com/.../network-ports-used-xbox-live    ) then seeing if your download speeds improve.

    How is your console hooked up? Have you checked your internet service provider to ensure you don't have a bottleneck somewhere?

    You should run a test a speedtest.com to see what your up and down speeds are.

    When I download larger games or several games, I set it to do background downloads. That way I can turn the console off and it will continue to download.

    Not wanting to reign in on onyx62is's very accurate information here, but I would just like to add a few extra things. Firstly, GTA V is a very large game download. The game comes down in two parts. The first part comes directly via the marketplace and is
    7.6GB. Once this download is launched, the second part downloads - which is around 8GB. Note: You can not launch the game until the second download is completed. The total size is about 16GB.

    How fast your game downloads is mostly dependant on the download speed your ISP provides. Do you know what this is? If not, please do as onyx62is's has suggested and complete a speed test at
    www.speedtest.net. Then post your speed back here.
