Teredo tunneling adapter is missing from device manager

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue with Teredo. Based on the limited information you've given, it seems that what you're stating is that you are missing the Teredo tunneling adapter from the device manager in your PC, is that
correct?

Teredo is a networking protocol that’s used to establish secure communications between clients and servers, and to facilitate connectivity between devices behind routers that use network address translation (NAT).
Without a TeredoIP address, you’ll be unable to use party chat or do multiplayer gaming on Xbox Live. Generally, this is a setting in your router
or PC that can be toggled on/off.

If you've exhausted all possible troubleshooting from the articles relating to teredo on Windows 10 PC, then you may wish to contact your ISP to see if they can assist you in getting the
Teredo tunneling enabled correctly. Alternatively, if this is a feature missing from your Windows 10 PC, then you may wish to try

reinstalling Windows 10 on your PC to see if the missing drivers are reinstalled correctly.

Give this additional troubleshooting a try and let us know the results.

I manage to solve it on my own. I found that IP helper service was not running due to one of its dependencies not starting. That dependency was also greyed out so it couldn't be started manually. A startup repair fixed this. As far as the Teredo adapter
is concerned, it's still not listed in device manager but I have noticed that there's an IP6v adapter listed so I assume that the Teredo adapter has been superceded by this as I can now connect to multiplayer live.

We are going to try and uninstall and reinstall the teredo tunneling adapter.

1.
Go to Device Manager.


2. Expand Network adapters and then right click the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface to
Uninstall.

Here maybe yours is Microsoft Teredo Tunneling adapter or
Microsoft Teredo Tunneling interface.

Tips: Here if you are unable to find out the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface, you are to click
View and then choose Show hidden devices. After that,
Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface shows up under Network adapters

3. Hit Uninstall to confirm the uninstallation for the Teredo tunneling adapter.

4. Then In Device Manager, under Action, click
Add legacy hardware.

5. Click Next in Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard.

6. Choose to Search for and install the hardware automatically and then click
Next.

7. Click Next again to select a device driver from the list.

8. Pick out Network adapter from Common hardware types and then hit
Next.

9. On the left pane, select Microsoft and accordingly, on the right pane, choose
Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface. All chosen, click
Next to let Windows 10 install this hardware on your PC

Hi MORIFUY,

Probably Teredo Adapter is disabled, pelase run this command to see if it is disabled.

netsh interface Teredo show state

To re-enable the Teredo adapter:

Right-click the Start icon, and then select Command Prompt (Admin).

Run the following command from the Admin command prompt:

netsh interface Teredo set state type=default

Note The Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter will reinstall automatically. Don’t install the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface adapter manually in Device Manager, as this may cause issues with Teredo functionality.
