    Teredo IP Address issue when attempting to check multiplayer connection on XBOX One


    For the past few days i have been attempting to fix an issue regarding not being able to connect to multiplayer due with the error regarding a Teredo IP address. I believe it is related to my NAT type which currently says that it is behind a firewall. I
    am currently using the Draytek vigor 120 modem and an apple time machine as a router.

    Any help would be really appreciated!!

    Cannot get a Teredo IP address

    Hi,

    On my xbox360, live chat worked just fine but it does not on my xbox one.

    The test connection is successful, but the Test Multiplayer Connection, I get the "Cannot get a Teredo IP address". I received this error message using 2 different routers. I am currently using an Apple Time Capsule.

    I have run through the steps located here:

    With no luck.

    I have the xbox one reserved at a specific IP address and that IP address is set as the default host (DMZ). I unchecked Block incoming IPv6 connections which also allows Teredo Tunnels. I even started adding in port mappings to map external ports to the
    internal ports on the xbox IP address.

    Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried just about everything. I saw this issue on another forum that is unanswered:

    Teredo is unable to qualify - I've tried EVERYTHING...

    Teredo is a networking protocol that’s used to establish secure communications between clients and servers, and to facilitate connectivity between devices behind routers that use network address translation
    (NAT).

    Failure to obtain a Teredo IP address can occur when there’s an issue with your Teredo adapter, when a device on your network is blocking the Teredo protocol, or if there’s software installed on your PC
    that’s disabling Teredo functionality. Without a Teredo IP address, you’ll be unable to use party chat or do multiplayer gaming on Xbox Live.

    Note The Teredo IP address is only necessary for Xbox Live party chat and multiplayer features. If your game doesn’t use the Xbox Live service, consult that game’s support site for help
    on chat and multiplayer issues.

    I've read about this before. The apple time capsule blocks Teredo tunnels by default.

    I have copy and pasted this from the network hardware forums.

    Known issues

    On the Xbox One, if you are having issues getting into multiplayer gaming with this router, it may be blocking Teredo tunnels. This is a setting that is left unchecked by default on this router.

    To allow Teredo tunnels:

    1.Open the AirPort Admin Utility. (It is installed in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Macintosh computer, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on computers using Windows.)

    2.With the Utility open select your device from the menu on the left.

    3.Select Advanced from the menu at the top.

    4.Select the tab labeled IPv6 Firewall.

    5.Check the option to Allow Teredo tunnels.

    6.Select Update.
