Telltale's Walking Dead Games or Alien & Evil Within?

I need some help figuring out which games I should try out first. I plan on renting these from Gamefly, mostly because they're single player only experiences. Anyway, I've never played Telltale's Walking Dead games but I've heard great things, I've even
never watched any gameplay or read a review. I'm also interested in Alien: Isolation and The Evil Within, but obviously nobody really knows how good they are. I've heard and read that Alien is very authentic and true to the movies which is great, but I've
heard very little about Evil Within except for it being decent to some critics based on early previews. As you might know, Alien: Isolation releases on 10/7, Walking Dead: Season One releases on 10/14 along with The Evil Within, and then Walking Dead: Season
Two releases on 10/21. If you're familiar with Gamefly then you know that getting new releases is never a guarantee unless your Queue is basically reserved for nothing but upcoming games. I plan to upgrade to the two disc plan during the Fall to increase my
chances of getting the games. I just wanted to know if you guys would recommend the Walking Dead games, or should I just skip them for the time being and go Alien and etc.? OR should I get the two-disc plan, rent Alien on 10/7, then rent WD: Season One on
10/14 (skip Evil Within), and then hopefully finish either Alien or Season One in time to rent Season Two. Sorry for all this mumbo jumbo, but I just want to get your opinions. Is anyone else going through this predicament or are most of you just gonna buy
these games?

To date, there are only 2 games I've received all of the achievements for - Telltale's The Walking Dead & Minecraft. Well, I got all of the Halo 3 achievements too, but the DLC achievements screwed me over for that 1... :|

Evil Within looks like the run of the mill "scary" game. I've played Alien Isolation and it's fun ..it's difficult but fun. I've played TWD Season 1 and loved it .. didn't play Season 2 because I got burned out on that particular style of game after playing
The Wolf Amoung Us .. it's the same albeit a new theme. that's not a bad thing but it just burned me out with that particular style of gameplay.

BUT, if i'm you I go Alien Isolation and The Walking Dead.

 

I would highly recommend Telltales' The Walking Dead. The story alone will pull at your heart-strings. Despite being a 30-yr. old man, I couldn't get through a single episode without shedding a tear.

 

Sounds good. Yeah, I think I'll hold out on The Evil Within. Also, are the Walking Dead games pretty long?

 

About 2 hours per episode.

If you love The Walking Dead show, you're going to love the game. I love The Walking Dead game

I love Alien movies and games, but I remain skeptical about Alien Isolation about the Xenomorph A.I. actually using A.I. instead of running off in a patternal manner.

The Evil Within looks amazing, but I have yet to see if I will have time to play it LOL

Get Alien or Evil Within. TWD is good, but the gameplay isn't exciting. I would play TWD if you're bored. It has a good story though.

 

The gameplay IS exciting, but it's a point-and-click adventure game, which is simply a different kind of game that "some" people apparently can't appreciate. ;P

Think of TWD it as being similar to the Monkey Island series or Grim Fandango - this kind of game is more for telling a great story than breaking the mold for new gameplay. Besides, there's a reason it made game of the year

Any one of these games would be a great choice, but if I was in your situation; I would pick The Walking Dead

I have to go with Alien: Isolation is the big one for me. I love the Alien series, including Prometheus.

 

I was bored of interactive movies when I had my CDi. TWD is good story wise, but it doesn't exactly have the most riveting gameplay. What click and point game does? Anyone who says other wise is just messin'.

It doesn't make it a bad game, just boring. I still bought all of season 1. Also you will only get 10 hours from it. Is that enough for you?

 

I loved WD but agree with Brandiesel, gameplay was dire but superb story carried it through.

I also don't think I could of played as a single game because of the game mechanics. The episodic format was perfect and did it the most justice.
