Telltale The Most Dishonest Publisher This Gen?

They are selling disc and online versions of "7 Days To Die".

The game is fun but looks really rough and is kind of buggy.

Thing is... this game should have been in the XBox Preview program.

It's not a finished game but it's being sold as if it was.

I own it and enjoy it but even I have to say that it is simply wrong that this is being sold on the XBox LIVE Marketplace, from online Retail Shops and from gaming shops with NO warning that this is a 'work in progress'.

How do they get away with this?

Microsoft doesn't own Telltale Games or publish their games.

Telltale Games is the developer, Skybound is the Publisher.

You should check out the official The Walking Dead forums -
www.telltalegames.com/.../walkingdead-game and see if someone had the same issue. I haven't ran into this issue myself but of course everyones decisions make for a unique game outcome.

I have not played it. Maybe they consider the part they are selling complete. And then anything added as just more content. I have seen some very popular and praised games hit that where obviously not complete. And they received high praise. The common
thing was that more (or the remaining) content was coming and the game was fine. No sure if they had that thought process here or what. But if ANY game gets away with certain things it seems at least some others start trying it as well.

I bought it and I'm the smartest person here!

All joking aside I knew what I was getting when I got it and Mrs Azrael and I are having a blast with it.

It is the "better looking" (by Minecraft standards) Minecraft game with Zombies that they promised.

But if a game is really in a "Preview State" then it should be a "Preview" game.

If you simply saw this in the shop you would expect it to be more polished than it actually is and most people will see it in the shop rather than conduct a meticulous pre-game internet investigation.

At least people on the Marketplace can see gamers playing on Twitch to manage their expectations.

Just really poor that they weren't honest with this title though people ought to be questioning why it's only "half price" to begin with.

Telltale more dishonest than Ubisoft?

There is no way in hell Telltale are as dishonest as the Triple A publishers.

Throw all your money at "Ultimate Team" and FIFA points and Season Passes etc...

You know it's coming. You choose how much you want to give to them.

They've been doing it for years. If you still throw all your cash at them you knew what you were getting and you let them do it.

This... apparently is still in an Alpha Stage. Iron Galaxy developed a console version for Telltale Publishing which they are selling as a complete game. Not putting it in the "Preview Program" where it should have gone not only miss-directs potential
XBox Customers but it technically absolves them from having to develop it further. There's technically no promise to keep updating it like they do the PC version.

Hopefully they will. I mean there's nothing to say that they won't but it's a pretty bad first step and the original developers will probably not be very impressed with Telltales handling of this release. The reviews have been scathing and in many cases,
justified. You can enjoy yourself with the game but only if you know exactly what you're getting and they don't appear to be being very straight about it.
