Telling Tales?

From a gameplay perspective it's Xillia. It found the right balance of CC and TP, as in I can't spam Phantasm Flash, dodge, then start spamming it again and combat isn't super easy like Graces, while being a little less technical IMO. Story wise it'd be
between Abyss and Vesperia, with the edge going to Abyss. Both had great casts, but Vesperia's story is trash so Abyss wins that. Overall I give it to Abyss, played it and loved it 18 times.

 

I haven't played Graces F yet, though I just bought it a fortnight ago. I hear the story is crap? Anyway, I haven't started Tales of Symphonia on the gamecube yet and that cost me a small fortune.

[/quote]Xillia was my first game in the series, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I found Graces F to be a far superior game in almost every aspect, especially the combat and environments.

 

Xillia combat was super easy IMO. Jude+Leia/Alvis link=GG monsters. I had to start using Elize+Rowen link because I was just smacking the enemies around.

 

Symphonia is my favourite. Not finished Vesperia or Xillia yet though.

I had link set to off for most of the game seeing those orange globes when I didn't need them annoyed me. I only ever used it for like the Gaius and Maxwell fights, but I'll have to try it now. I hated Jude so I never have him in party. It's always (when
available) Milla, Alvin, Elize, Leia. I felt sorry for Leia like the entire game can't understand why Jude wants Milla Lispwell more.

 

@Ascenion I'm the complete opposite. I disliked Milla since you can't use the 4 till late in the game. By that point I already wrote her out of all battle strategies. I used Jude, Rowen/Elize, Leia and Alvin and we were unstoppable though I haven't made
it around to Unknown difficulty yet. I do wish developers would stop locking the hardest difficulty out of first play throughs.

I tend to like fist users (with Snow from FFXIII being the only exception) or bow users in video games. Jude is one of my favorite Tales characters gameplay wise. He's tied with Presea and Raven. I cannot wait for the Symphonia HD release so I can play Presea
again. She puts in work with that ax.

[/quote]I too found Xillia's combat a tad easy due to the Linked Artes system, I prefer the evade option in Graces F to the Linked Artes in Xillia.

 

If you play Jude his evade option is super overpowered. I left a boot imprint on the backs of so many enemies.

 

@Burst Axe You ever play Tales of Legendia? It was on PS2 had a main character named Senel. He used fists too so you might like that one.

 

@Ascenion Naw. I wasn't introduced to the Tales series until Symphonia on GC. I didn't know they had another one other than Abyss outside of Japan on PS2. Will look into it. Hopefully its doesn't go for an arm and a leg like Suikoden II.

 

Does anyone like the look of The Witch and the Hundred Knights?

Ps It's not a "Tales of" game.
