    TB Ear Force Stealth 500X

Anybody else see this headset coming out in a little over month and a half. Completely wireless chat and game audio. Not sure what TB found out that the other headset manufacturers could not for using wireless chat but for $229 it does sound interesting.

Xbox one stereo headset info wanted

The sound quality is great for the price. I have a Stealth 500X headset too and the MS one has better sound quality IMO, although of course it's just stereo and not simulated surround sound like the 500X. If I go back to using the 500X, the sound is really
"hollow" in comparison. It offers good sound isolation too, although that can make it hard to tell how loud you're talking into the mic sometimes as there's no mic monitoring option. The voice chat quality is really good.

The headset adapter allows you to adjust the balance between game audio and chat/party audio using 2 buttons, so there's not separate volume controls for each. Instead, if you press the game audio button, for example, it will raise the volume of the game
audio and lower the volume of the chat/party audio by one small step. Using those 2 buttons you can get the right balance so you can hear your friends talking and hear the game audio too. It also has a mute button with a light on it, so that you know when
your mic is muted, and volume up and down buttons.

Surround headset question: manufacturer claims chat audio via USB?

I've got a few more answers....

I owned the Stealth 500X's briefly, but returned them due to what I felt was deceptive marketing. DTS was one sticking point. Apparently TB worked with the audio engineers at DTS to develop some kind of proprietary sound processing technology
inside the headset. However, what we all know as DTS audio out of the console supports a limited number of channels (I want to say 5.1). Dolby Digital supports more discrete channels, and that's why it is required to output Dolby from your console
    to the transmitter.

My second sticking point was a claim that you can hook up your phone to the stealth 500X to receive notifications of calls and texts. What they didn't tell you is that this requires a physical cable connection, making this entirely impractical. I own XP400s
and Tangos and both support Bluetooth integration--I can answer and take calls directly on my headset. I thought the Stealth 500X marketing points were referring to the same feature, but not even close.

Alright, so negatives aside, the wireless chat on the Stealth 500X was
awesome. It is completely wireless, crystal clear and had great range. I'm not even sure what is meant by USB for chat audio. The setup is like other TB wireless headsets: connect the wireless transmitter to your console using an optical cable and
power the transmitter with USB. That's really the only place USB is used in the whole system. My take was the wireless chat was perfect. It was a real shame to give that up, but the other two sticking points just killed the 500x for me.

Now, the 800x has the same not-really-DTS thing going on, but I'm over that. The 500x transmitter has a pass through, and I was able to set my One to output DTS audio and it passed through the transmitter to my home theater receiver and played fine there
as DTS. You just get no audio through the headset. But if I'm using my HT surround I don't need my headset. That just means I can have my DTS if I take a moment to visit the settings. Good enough.

The 800x also supports Bluetooth phone pairing for phone calls and Bluetooth audio streaming. I double-checked by reading the manual in advance! i am also expecting the same wireless chat perfection as the stealth 500x. All in all I'm super excited about
the 800x. In fact, searching for it is how I landed here. Thought I'd take a moment (or 10) to share my experiences and answer these same questions that I had when I decided to try the 500x.

Currently Disgruntled about headset options for XBOX One. Wanting opinions of Other Players

I spoke with TB Support, they said the TB Stealth 500x is not compatible with Xbox 360, only Xbox One. They are wrong! I spoke with Xbox Support, and they said Xbox 360 supports DTS 7.1. My 500x works on BOTH Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. BOTH CHAT & DTS sound. I
like a dolby headset which I can use both on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 which has chat ability. TB is probably like a home business that's why their customer service may not be anywhere as good as say a more bigger company like Microsoft. But you do have to admit,
TB do make some amazing headsets.
