Taptiles launched in background automatically

Is there any reason, while Taptiles is launched automatically in the background, when starting up the computer?

Just noticed the task "taptiles.exe" in the task manager, when I checked something else, although I did not start that game for a couple of days/weeks already. After killing the task and restarting the machine again, I popped up again automatically.

Is there any need for this behavior? Should we not try to save resources by not loading everything automatically, although not really needed?

Yep, a patch probably applied in background yesterday, succes appeared suddenly when i launched a solo party.

Are you starting your PC from "shutdown" or "restart"?

 

Tried out both, does not matter at all: Once the machine is booting, the task automatically appears in the list.

I can kill the task manually, but after next startup, it appears again.

 

What type of PC are you using? Are you using a tablet PC by chance?

 

Yes, it is a Windows 8.1 tablet, where I noticed that.

The problem is not really, that the task is there, but it seems to be transmitting data in the background as well, which is permanently consuming power (pretty bad on a primarily mobile device) and which as well is struggling me from a security/privacy perspective.

Posted 18 May 2014 2:45 PM The fix for this is to unhide your hidden files and folders and navigate to C:/program Files/Windows Apps

you will see windows.taptiles folders, delete all of the wndows.taptiles folders and then go to your start menu and right click the tap tiles icon and select uninstall. Restart the computer and then reinstall tap tiles from the app store

 

Did that fix work? Are you still having this issue? I have looked and I don't see why Taptiles would launch itself in the background- it shouldn't be doing that.

Unfortunately, I was not able to test it yet, since I deleted the app from my tablet befor the fix was delivered.

However, I was curious and tried to have a look at the folder you named, but I am a bit unsure about proceeding, since Windows asks me to change the folder permissions.

 

Digging out my old thread again...

After some time, I now re-installed my tablet from the scratch and tried it with Taptiles once again.

Even on a fresh installed system, directly after startup (not restart, the device was completely turned off before), when I look into the task manager I can see a process "taptiles.exe", without having started the game before or something like that.

For ALL other games installed (Fifa 14, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Microsoft Minesweeper, Microsoft Shanghai), this is not the case. Only for that particular game.

There is definitely something wrong.

 

Try checking if it's set to run on startup from the Task Manager. Open Task Manager, then go to the Startup tab. If you see Taptiles listed there, highlight it and click 'disable.'
