Talking in party chat

Why is it that when I join my friends party I can hear the,m and it says my Mike is working but they can't hear me? Really bugging me now

Yeah, the in-game chat is what I'm talking about. Party chat and private chat work fine.

This is usually a NAT problem.

Please Do the following:

1) Check that your mic is not muted (this is obvious but i have to mention it)

2) Go to Settings, Network. You will see your NAT status. This MUST be Open. If it is Moderate or Strict you probably have issues with Networking.

3) Turn OFF your console (preferably with Power Saving Option Set and not Instant On). Restart your Modem/router. When connection to the internet is established Turn On your console. If you check your NAT type again it should be OPEN and probably you will
not have any more issues. If it is not Open then go to step 4) on this list.

4) You have to go to your Modem/router settings and check that the setting UPnP (Unplug and Play) is ON. (usually it is On by Default). If you still have problems go to step 5) on this list.

5) You have to Manually open the Ports for XboxLive on your Modem/router. Because i do not know what is brand and model of your router i suggest to check the site "portforward" (link bellow) for detailed procedures on opening the required ports by making
a static IP for your console and then opening the ports.

So I am having this problem as well but my NAT is open and my friends still can't hear me. Any suggestions?
