Taking over a Microsoft account...

Hey all,

My son has recently moved in with me. His mother was the primary microsoft account holder for his xbox live subscription and payments and such. I have had an existing account for my own use.

I'm trying to take over his xbox account or add it to my existing microsoft account? Is that possible. His mother can't remember the emai or password to her account so she is going to keep getting billed, but that that really not my problem.

I'd like to know

1, can I just merge his gamertag and all associated info to my microsoft account?

2, if not how can I take over her microsoft account, as I don't want my card on her account, she has cousins and nephews who would rack up a bill with my card?

Hi zbarnes68, for what i know, you can't merge an account or a subscription from an account to another. And a gamertag too. After, you can just
buy an Xbox live Gold or Game Pass sub and offer the sub as gift by email to the account of your child. Like that, no card on the account of his mother.

I think you would need to be added to the family account settings as a parent account you would need to speak to there mother for that to happen so you both can manage the account

that will guide you through the steps needed to recover control of your account.

if you have a credit or debit card linked to your account you should also contact your bank to prevent unauthorised purchases being made through your account.
