Taking an inactive accounts gamertag

inb4 you can't I want a constructive reply

I want the tag 'Hijacker', this account has been inactive for over 5 years AND it's a silver account.

Why can't xbox just purge inactive accounts that have no activity for more than say, 4 years? It's stupid this is a waste of a percectly good gamertag. Can someone point me in the direction to a higher up who I can speak to? There's a post on the feedback
page with like 3000+ votes for this problem that was posted 2 years ago, still no word from Xbox... also no I don't want 'Hijack3r' or Hijackerr', they're dumb.

Do you think Microsoft will clear out old unused gamertags?

They actually do this but its not live gamertags as much as Microsoft accounts goes inactive for x period they will purge it

What if you could get that old gamertag that's been inactive for years or never used? What if Microsoft allowed us to use the old gamertags or names that have never been used on Xbox with the next-generation Xbox? Some names haven't been used because they are used on other Microsoft LIVE services such as Zune.

I think it would be awesome if they had a specific time frame that inactive accounts would become available again after going silver. Say 6 months after its been silver/inactive, make it available to the public again. And you could keep track of how many times its been transferred owners like they have the numbers now for how many years you've been on Xbox LIVE.

 

They do release names they just don't announce it so account buyers can get the name before you do

It's is unexpected

You will have to just keep trying to take the name it is that simple or be more creative

When a name is released and your check if it's taken then if it's free then voila you get it

Vs no chance because the eBay sellers grab 10000s of released names before you do and you would be paying 100s to get the name

 

It isnt an on demand service to prevent another mass selling of names just like the previously stated scenior a seller could request 100s of names to be released and where would you be

You would be buying it from a account seller and fyi buying an account is a violation of the terms of use

There is very little point you might as well just check randomly you would have a far better chance

 

I would actually buy the gamertag I have my eyes on but it won't be released until 2019 and that's too long. Hello to the people looking at this in 2019!
