Take speech to the next level with Cortana

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. Sorry to hear that your Cortana is being pushy, even though you've had it off to begin with! It is definitely strange to have it pop up out of the blue. I'd recommend that you have the system revert
to the original voice control model (this turns it off) as you've done before and then do a restart. You can find the exact steps to do so

Should that not work, I'd recommend performing a soft factory reset (leaving your games and apps installed) to your console to get rid of any potentially damaging files on the OS that may be causing this to happen. Just be sure that you know your profile's
log in information (email address and password) prior to performing this step as it will be removed from the console.

It is off, i never had it on to begin with.

Try turning it off or say it slowly.

Thanks for your help. Will try this and see if it pops up again in the future.

I didn't think Cortana was on, it was more like Cortana wanted me to turn it on. There was a message like "let Cortana take speech to the next level" and an 'agree' and maybe a 'cancel' button.

Turning Cortana off did not stop the random occurrences of the "take speech to the next level" popup, and disabling my mic is not an option because I need it to talk to my friends.
