System Update Times

Historically loyal user of Microsoft products, but the duration and frequency of system updates is UNREAL. Daily, 30+ minute updates every time I turn on the Xbox One. I don't recall 360 ever being that way. Understanding that there is an 'offline' auto
update for the system, I don't particularly want the Xbox always in sleep mode, or limited power mode so that it can run updates at 2 am every night. Does the offline auto update download game updates, too? Because it is unreal how often a Blu-Ray player needs
to update. Either it plays my DVD or it doesn't. I'm pretty sure my 3 year old Samsung phone can download and install 300 MB significantly faster than my Xbox. If I start using the offline updates, does it capture everything, or will there still be constant
updates from games and other apps when I open those? Frustrated to the point of selling the system and buying a separate Blu-Ray player.

First Time system update not working

^^ This. Just wait patiently; it'll be back up eventually. In the meantime, do a Google or Bing search for "Lizard Squad" like RnR said and you'll understand what's going on as well as who's responsible for this.

 

You are always going to get updates.That's just the way it is now no matter what platform you are on

There's no harm in leaving your console in "instant on" mode.

It will download any updates as soon as they are available,whether it's for the console or any games or apps you have installed.

I have my console in "instant on" mode & haven't had to actually download an update myself for over 2 years unless it's the first time i've installed a game,it's all done for me.
