System Update Status Issue

(I did see the announcement topic regarding this, but it didn't help with anything).

Today I got an xbox 360 slim (Used, but it is pretty much brand new.....) and after setting up the internet, I found a system update. Which wasn't unusual due to I had the same model console for about 2-3 years. When updating I got a System Update Error 4099-4174-B680-2505-C000-0185.
Which is a number combo that I didn't see with other fixes, I tried the flash drive download and it even tried with my xbox 360 hard drive (The 320 G external). All came up with the same outcome and due to I cannot open up the guide or the dashboard....

Can anyone please explain the problem, or at least make sense out of the whole thing. I never had problems with my past console and this is kinda leaving a bad taste after having a power faliure with my past slim. Please help.

That status code usually indicates there may be an issue with the storage device.

These status codes are bit tricky to locate online. I find it easier to locate the longer codes by using the last eight digits.

Try this:

Clear failed system updates

With the Xbox powered off, press and hold the controller sync button on your Xbox.

While holding the button, press the power button on your console.

Continue holding the sync button until the console has completed booting up.

Install the latest dashboard via a USB key

Format the USB flashdrive FAT32

Download the update found at
xbox.com/system-update-usb to your computer.

Unzip the download and copy the contents to the USB drive

Plug the USB drive into the Xbox

Restart the Xbox and the update installer will start automatically.

Select Yes when you are prompted to start the update.
