    System unable to install system update


    Modem Brand and Model Number: Motorola SBG6580

    Router Brand and Model Number: See above.

    Wired or Wireless connection: Wireless connection

    Update Error Message:     Can't download the update. To test internet connection.....

    Update Error Code (6 sets of 4 digits/letters each): 40A3 - 0000 - 3080 - 0504 - 8007 - 0070

    What you've tried: Clearing Cache, USB Flash Drive, Testing Xbox Live, Re-installing update, using wired connection

    When attempting to update using a flash drive, it extracts for 2-3 seconds and give an error code: 40A3-0000-3000-0904-8007-0070

    can't download day one update

    800701e7 - error

    The system update that is trying to install is failing validation during the system update file verification.

    Solution:

    To resolve this issue, you will need to install the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool.

    This next gen malarky ain't for those with slow internet!

    I thought the ideas of instant on was that updates were downloaded and installed while the system was in stand by???

    Hi Draconicly,

    .

    That error code could be a problem with your storage device. If your console still reaches the dashboard then go to settings/ system/ storage. How much free space does your storage device show ? If it's less than 200Mb then you'd need to delete something
    to free up some space for the update.

    -

    If the device shows as unformatted there is a chance that formatting the storage device could get your xbox up and running again. If the storage device doesn't show at all or won't format then it's time to arrange a repair.

    -

    If you could take a look at the storage device and post back what you see if you need further assistance then please do.

    To format a storage device, go to settings/ system/ storage, highlight the storage device and press Y on the controller, you will see the format option. Select that option and follow the instructions on screen.

    Hey there Hatebreed! Can you also confirm if you tried downloading the update while connected directly to the modem with an ethernet cable? Sometimes that helps out. If not, could you try taking your console to another network entirely? This would help rule
    out the network as a possible cause. Let us know, thanks!

    I am having the exact same issue and you are the first person I have seen with the same code as me. I have tried loading the update from USB, wireless, and now wired directly to the router. I have been on the phone almost every night since Christmas and
    they are telling me it could be a memory issue. Xbox (4gb) is brand new with nothing loaded at all. Anyone know how to verify if it is truly a bad memory problem? Mine shows 1.5 gb free of the total 3 gb.s available. I assume the remaining 1 gb is set aside
    to run the graphics etc...

    That's the thing that confuses me. It says my dashboard is using 2.0.16202 but every time I try to sign into live it makes me run the update again and I get the error. Also just my HDD and a memory card.
