System malfunctioning repeatedly, System Restore a temporary fix

SUPPORT TECHNICIANS PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST BECAUSE IN THE PAST I'VE HAD TECHNICIANS GIVE RESPONSES THAT WERE NOT APPLICABLE DESPITE MY PREVIOUSLY STATED FACTS AND EXTENSIVE DETAILED DOCUMENTATION

Thank you for taking the time to read this....

For approximately 2 weeks my console has been encountering problems. I have contacted tech support via chat, and every time that I contact them my problem goes unsolved. (don't get me started on the language barrier with the foreign technicians)

This issue always returns after about 24 to 48 hours. My console is running the most recent OS Version, and the time in which the issue returns seems to coincide with the time/date the console performs an Automatic Update

    Issues Prior to Troubleshooting Steps:

    • loading games/apps takes several minutes longer than usual
    • app tiles on the home screen are blank and labeled "ms-resource"
    • gamer picture is blank
    • sometimes console freezes when starting some apps/games
    • my NAT is strict
        • this is what is confusing because my nat is NEVER strict, it's ALWAYS open
    My Troubleshooting Routine:

    1. Turn the Xbox One console off then back on
      1. no change
    2. Hard reset. Hold the power button on the front of the console for 8-10 seconds then unplug for 30 second
      1. no change
    3. Offline System Update by downloading the the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool to a flash drive and following all of the steps
      1. no change, performed correctly and successfully
    4. Factory Restore
      1. always works, but takes way too much time
The Factory Restore is the only thing that fixes any and all of the issues, yet it is only a temporary fix.

Results After the Factory Restore Is Successful:

    • everything looks and performs fast and without error as it is intended
    • all game/app tiles have the appropriate icon and label
    • my NAT is open
      • this is the unusual part because the nat shouldn't be effected in this way
FACTORY RESTORE WORKS, BUT NOT FOR LONG!!!!

THE PROBLEMS RETURN EVERY DAY OR TWO.

    :)

X360 slim running EXTREMELY slow and sluggish. Freezes when accessing friends list or messages

Have you tried reinstalling the latest system update? It is possible that that update had issues. To do so, do the following: System Settings > Memory > Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X > Yes. Let us know if this fixes the issue
after you reinstall the system update. If not, it is possible you have a malfunctioning Harddrive.

Hey Caldo, from the sounds of it, you're going to have to do a system restore, my system was initially like this at launch, but after the restore, everything was okay. I hope this fixes your problem for you. Are you in located in NYS by any chance?

I'm not a tech, but almost all of the issues you listed point to an issue with your connection. Have you run a network and multiplayer test on your console? If so, did you get any errors? If wireless, can you try a wired connection?

getting the same problem, not a connection issue at all, more likely corrupt code issue, one of the updates causing conflict with core programming, has been happening to me since last update and steadily getting worse, been about to launch box out the window
over this more than once, hopefully the new dash will resolve it, if not it will be getting sent back to MS.

Not a connection issue. No network / multiplayer connection issues. I switched to wired connection as opposed to wireless and the issue still occurs regularly.

@FV Wolf, this has been happening to me since the last update as well. I have already concluded that it is a coding issue like you pointed out.

There is not an issue with my system's hardware. The issue exists in Microsoft's programming. If the New Xbox Experience does not fix the problem, then Microsoft will have to replace my system.

This just started happening to me, exactly the same issue. Every time the system updates I have to reset to factory defaults. The factory reset solves the problems for a few days, but as soon as it updates I'm getting an error message on start up that
    "something went wrong"

System restore to fix chat issue or no?

What kind of chat headset do you use for chatting on xbox,if you mean the headset from Microsoft as wired headset, then check if family settings has been enabled where chatting may have been disabled. If you use stereo headset adapter then there may be problem
with the 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter used for it.
