System Link Conspiracy!!

Angry like you wouldn't believe!! Xbox System Link. Numerous XBOX 360 games show this option clearly on the box yet for months I have tried everything to get my son's XBOX and mine connected together so that we can play a game over our own network, and time
and time again, it says I need XBOX live to do it!!

My son has XBOX live and I don't. We bought a second copy of COD Ghosts and tried to get the two XBOX's to see each other but my profile keeps saying XBOX live was required to download additional content. Why?? System Link has always been an option for local
play.....so why is XBOX live required??

Managed to resolve this by creating a new XBOX profile from XBOX live ( No Subscription )and we got the content. However still the two XBOX's didn't see each other. Created AD-HOC connection and put both XBOX's on it but still neither see each other or the
games that are created.

OK, read online that other people had the same problem with COD Ghosts so I bought a second copy of Halo 4 and clearly on the back it shows System Link. Guess what even with both profiles having XBOX live profiles , they wouldn't connect to each other over
the WiFi or the AD-HOC connection.

Also read that it could be updates that were installed on one and not the other so I removed all content, cache etc. for the game and started a fresh on both consoles but still the same thing occurred.

What is going on?? Can anyone explain this problem to me, to convince me that it is not a Microsoft conspiracy to get everyone, even multiple users IN THE SAME HOME, to sign up to Subscription XBOX live before you can play games together with your family.

What makes this even worse is that I am an IT professional and can't get this, supposedly free play, working.

Anybody have a solution for this that doesn't involve a very long network crossover cable trailing up the stairs to the bedroom?

System linking

This is specifically for back ops 3 zombies. I'm trying to system link with my brother, we are both offline, we can find each other on the "find LAN game" but when we go to join each other, it is party is not joinable. Any solutions?

I thought system link was only for the original xbox. You sure you arent stuck in the year 2003 buddy?

If one xbox is hooked up the the ethernet, and one to the wireless, then that's your problem. I figured this out while doing the same thing. If both consoles are connected to the internet the same way (both wireless or both wired), then you'll have to either
use a very long crossover, or bring the other xbox downstairs and use a short crossover.

I'm pretty sure the 3rd Halo (the one in Halo 3) was also destroyed... it was the one that was almost finished, but was still in the final phases of construction on the ark. When it was fired it ripped itself apart, along with the ark.

in my best of knowledge. i may be wrong. it shows {including the Didacts} 4 promethean emblems. (like what you would see for the Didacts red emblem at end of the halo4 e3 trailer) looks like a gas mask filter with a ring around it, turning counterclock wise.
