System is taking a dump?

Hi this is usually a ventilation issue. It could be internal which would mean you have to send it in for servicing. Or you may just have to move the console and put it somewhere it can breath, Wipe it off with a clean dry cloth and make sure it's well ventilated
too.

If you own a xbox that has an external power supply, you may need to blow both the power supply and the console out with compressed air. As these components tend to build up hair and other particulates very easily. Also note that smoking around electronics
is bad for them in general and can lead to degradation of components faster if they are not being cleaned regularly.

Also make sure that any vents that are on the console are able to easily access fresh air. If the xbox is contained in an enclosed area like an entertainment center this will cause components to heat up rapidly and it has been know to cause components to
fail.

If none of these things help you, you may also want to check that your electrical socket is properly grounded and this may require you to contact an electrician unless you have someone who can do this for you that has the knowledge. I cannot provide the
steps for you to do this as you could injure yourself or someone else. Please do not attempt this but consult a professional.

If none of this helps you may need to replace the external power supply if you have the xbox in question that uses them. If you buy a new power supply and this issue remains then you will need to service your xbox console.

If you have an xbox one S or X and following the steps issued officially by Microsoft in the help guide do not work you should have your system Sent in for repair.

Hi there,

When you turn the system back on after it shuts off, does any sort of error message come up? Ive seen this issue before and it turned out to be the thermal paste on the processor needing to be replaced.
