System Error: E200 00000074 00000000

Hi, I just got this error code and don't know why.

I was in a party chat with friends and had a connectivity issue (nothing out of the ordinary) so decided to power cycle my xbox. When I turned it back on I was met with this error code. Looking online it seems this only happens during an update, but it
wasn't performing an update at the time and as far as I'm aware it's on the latest OS. When I go to troubleshoot the only options available are to factory reset (which I really don't want to do) or Offline system update.

Is there any way around this, or will I have to perform the offline update?

You could attempt basic troubleshooting again like power cycling and hard resetting, you can even attempt a soft reset, it'll factory reset your xbox but you can keep your games and apps, however in the end if that does not work then you'd definitely have
to do the Offline Software update. First attempts to download OSUDT 2 then OSUDT 1, if those don't work then restore to factory defaults on your xbox one.

So if I choose factory reset in the troubleshoot screen this will perform a soft reset right? And will games saved to the hard drive still be there, or will I have to install them again?

Yes, you go to your settings > system settings > console info and updates > restore > keep games and apps, you'll have to redownload your profile, but that's about it, hopefully it works.

I'm getting the same thing but E200 00000074 00000000 and there is no information anywhere about it! Tried restarting numerous times.

Hey there xMikeTheRipper!

First thing, keep in mind that so long as you've been connected to Xbox Live your saves are tied to your Gamertag, so resetting to factory settings would only delete the game's install and not your saves. Have you tried downloading the offline update again
onto a different USB drive to see if that helps? Make sure you're also downloading the correct file, as there are two different Offline Updates to choose from. Keep us in the loop with what's going on :0
