Syncing user data screen disappears when trying to sync

I think that getting a new copy or try with a new copy could help to isolate a bit more the problem

That’s what I did before but it still bugged out I’m starting to think I just might need a new copy of Black ops three

That's really strange, we can try something different

First delete the game and eject the disc.

Download the Xbox app in your phone, once you configure the console there select the search button > search for black ops 3 (don't forget to filter by games) > click on the result > download to console

Once the game has been downloaded insert the disc and give it a new try

I’ve tried all of that but I’m thinking now that for some reason it’s not wanting to launch the newest version of the game but the version prior to it and I’m wondering how to fix that
