Symbols instead of profanity?

Is using symbols in place of profanity allowed on Xbox Live? I'm asking because I used to have an anger problem, but I learned to control my anger. The only thing I still have trouble with is my words. And yeah I just wanted to know if I could use symbols
instead of profane words.

Make it really hard to read and use symbols and numbers instead of letters everyone likes that. Also it needs 420 YOLO in it somewhere coz chick dig that.

According to the Code of Conduct and Terms of Use of the Live service that you agreed to upon creating your account you cannot use profane words or phrases in your bio/gamertag/etc. This includes using letters or symbols to simulate a profane word or phrase.

Doing so could result in a suspension or ban of your gamertag.

 

who reads all that stuff i didn't none of my friends did and it wouldn't be surprising if only 25% did actually read it

I've been wondering this for weeks now. But instead of you putting in the symbols Xbox Live does. Similarly to the way League of Legends chat works. The chat automatically blocks profanity with ***** but gives the user the option to take away that block
if they don't care about the harsh language. As an American, who's 25, I think Xbox Live infringes on our rights by throwing out chat bans left and right for doing nothing more than exercising out first amendment rights. Add an 18+ option so that I can swear
all I want. There is a mute and block option after all.

LIVE is a family service, not certain, but I doubt you would want your kid hearing profanity every other word online. Plus, LIVE has a code of conduct that you must agree to before you can use the service, once you do that, your first amendment rights really
don't matter anymore as far as the service goes. Onyx and I are gamers like you. We just try to help people on the forums. The best way to answer this question, was to quote the COC.

 

Exactly why I recommended an option that already exists and works successfully in other games...I'm not denying that there is a percentage of Xbox Live users that either don't want to or shouldn't hear profanity. I'm saying that the restrictions Xbox puts
in its COC are unfair to a lot of their users and that there are better, more reasonable ways to make EVERYONE happy. The way the current system is set up it's much easier to receive a chat ban via text chat than just in-game voice chat. Not to mention a lot
of the profanity comes from young kids, home alone, playing M rated games....Point is, the current system is rubbish and it needs immediate attention. Starting with the strict COC.

 

And I again refer you to the mute and block option. Some games offer 'mute all' which I use often. It's annoying that people reach for the report option rather than just muting someone. Cowards

 

I don't think you read anything they said 1st amendment has nothing to do with private services and that has already went to the supreme court and not to.mention if you read the actual text of the 1st amendments it says government and public forums

Hate to say it but a private server isn't a public forum

Private server's can have their own rules.and all servers do actually enforce it the same way so I donno how you expect anyone else to enforce it any other way

If you don't loke.it don't use online services and yes it's just as strictly enforced as most websites and services

 

Never said anything about 1st amendment in my response? Definitely past that now. It's more about changing the COC so that it's more uniform in it's treatment to everyone. In my original post I was trying to say (poorly I guess) that acknowledging our rights
and making an effort to work with them rather than stomp on them would lean more on the side of fair than the current system. But thanks for your input.

 

I even cited a specific game with a strict COC who enforces probably even more than Xbox but since they have simple things in place like automatically blocking profanity from chat they do a lot less injustice to players just being normal humans. So I think

You don't seem to understand your rights are spelled out in the terms of use

There is no first amendment

You want curse freely make.your own service and yes everyone gets treated the same way

Its a Family service not.your private service that's what you are not getting

 

It is exactly the same way with any service some services are stricter

Want to knowable punishment for repeat.cursing offences is ? Permanent public speaking channel.ban

Only way to get that back is to.pay 25 bucks on some.services.
