Switching Over Xbox Live Account To New Microsoft Account

Unfortunately this is not possible and since your email is a Microsoft email (Live, Hotmail or Outlook) you can't switch the email to another one and have the account not be connected to that email anymore, technically.

You can switch the login emails around but you CAN'T switch TO a Microsoft email when you do this (Live, Hotmail or Outlook). You can switch to another email provider but you can't switch between Microsoft emails as they're permanently connected to that
account they were created on. For example, you can't switch this account's email login to another Microsoft account because that email is attached to a Microsoft account already.

The only solution is to start over and have him create a new account and have the account that owns all the games to be set as the my home xbox account on the xbox one so that the new account can play all the games that account owns BUT the saves and any
progress will not move over and some DLC will not share, also.

unfortunately it is not possible to get around this issue, there is only one password for an Xbox Live account and that is the password for the Microsoft Account.

You can either create your son a new account, so he is able to use it freely with his own Microsoft account and password, but he'll have to start all over for the save games etc. Or move this xbox live account to a different Microsoft Account, that will
disconnect this xbox live account from your Microsoft account (and password) and connect it to a different Microsoft Account.

Be aware that a switch can only be done when a xbox live account has been on a console for at least 30 days and not downloaded in the meanwhile on any other console

Or if you switched your gamertag to a whole new Microsoft account then your currency would not switch over to the new Microsoft account either. Really any kind of switching you do it states that any currency you have does not go with your gamertag.

"When you change to a new Microsoft account, the current funds in your original Microsoft account do not transfer to your new Microsoft account." is what its says for switching a gamertag to a new Microsoft account, found here:

I seen that you stated with you are using a Gmail Account. At this moment the when switching accounts over the Xbox only will read Microsoft Accounts(Live Accounts) in that setup. Please try making a Live Account at:
http://outlook.com/ and sign up as a new user.
