Switching OFF hints in Microsoft Mahjong

Okay, I'm fairly new to this version of Mahjong, but I've been trying for days now to turn off the hints. I've tried turning them off (and back on and back off) in the general Game Options and in the specific board Game Options and yet they keep popping
up, which wouldn't be so awful if I could get the blasted "Click the light bulb for a hint" blurb to go away without having to "Back" out of the board and then go back in every time. Any ideas?
