Switching Microsoft Accounts Linked to Xbox Live Profile

Hello, I own an Xbox Live account that was inactive for a couple years. I recently purchased a new Xbox 360 system and I am using the same hard drive in which includes my old Live account. When I try logging into my account it asks for my Microsoft email
information that is linked to that account. The problem is that I forgot both my email and password to my Microsoft account. Not sure if I do in fact know my Microsoft email but it may have been deleted because it was inactive for so long but there is no way
to log into my Xbox Live account on my system that I know of right now. Would it be possible to log back into my old Xbox Live account by switching the Microsoft account that's needed to log in?

You would need to be able to sign into the account in order to change the Microsoft account. You can try contacting support. As long as you can verify that you are the owner of the account, they can get you the email. Then you can reset the password. 1-800-4my-xbox

Xbox Profile must be linked to a Microsoft Account (LIVE Account). The only way to separate the two would be to move your profile to a different/new Microsoft Account.

Do you want to change Email (Microsoft Account on it) ?

Do you want to change Gamertag ?

It explains the steps you will need to take to switch the accounts, be aware that a profile needs to be on a console for at least 30 days before it can be moved.

So in short: to remove that unwanted xbox live account, you will need to download it first, and then move it to another Microsoft Account. But all is explained pretty good at the Notes section on that link

In one of the latest updates, Amazon fixed the "Switch User" feature. Now, when you switch Xbox Live profiles, it will switch to the Amazon account linked to that profile as expected.
