Switching Gamertag Between Accounts

I am trying to transfer my gamertag that is associated with my outlook account to another outlook account. The outlook account is well over 30 days old. When I tried to transfer using my xbox, I was given an error
that the outlook email is already associated with a gamertag. I logged in with it to see that it was associated with a free account. How do I remove the gamertag from my outlook account to switch it?

Have you moved it within the last 30 days if so you can only move once every 30. That may be what your running into

It has not been moved or even used. I just made the Microsoft account 2 days ago. Could it be because its not 30 days old yet, maybe?

That would be exactly why. Give it another 28 days, and then try again.

Referencing the link you provided:

"You can move a gamertag to a different Microsoft account only once every 30 days.

This includes new gamertags downloaded from Xbox LIVE.

If you try to move a gamertag before 30 days have passed since the last time you moved it, you’ll get the following error message: Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account right now."

Have you tried doing this more than once in 30 days?

you cant simply transfer a gamertag from one microsoft account to another, it is the microsoft account that holds all the info regarding purchases etc etc.

when you create a new microsoft account it automatically creates a new gamertag with a random name.

you can add a new email address to your existing microsoft account as an alias and even make that the primary email.
