switching controllers disables mic

I have two controllers, one has a scuf mod. I use the regular controller (for Forza) and when I switch to the scuf controller (turning off the reg controller) and join a party to play COD, my friends can't hear me but I can hear them fine. Only thing
that seems to fix it is to restart the console.

I did some testing and if I switch back to the first controller, the mic is working... so I'm guessing the mic for party chat is somehow tied to the controller even when it's been turned off. I am turning off the current controller before switch to the
other.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry power strip ? do you mean switching it off at the socket? (I am a British btw)

Switching it of at the socket is fine but it's still connected while they are active on the console, or can you disable the mic and camera when the console is switched on?

 

Mic stopped working after switching controllers

Hi, I recently purchased a gears of war 4 controller and I joined a party online and saw the error message "we couldn't find a mic for these people" I'm using the standard Xbox one chat headset and it worked fine with my previous controller (Halo 5 controller).
So I tried plugging in my turtle beaches directly into the 3.5mm jack of the gears controller and that headset worked, so maybe the regular port doesn't work? My wired chat headset still works when plugged into my halo 5 controller but when plugged into the
gears controller it's not even recognized. Both of my controllers are updated and assigned to my profile, please help.

 

Have you tried switching controllers, and then resigning in? By this I mean:

While signed in, just go into the sign in area, and tell it to sign you in again. I've had an issue where the Kinect occasionally loses track of me, and this seems to fix the issue. I'm guessing this is a similar case where the Kinect loses track, due to
it also tracking controllers.

This is of course, if you have the Kinect. Try this, and then check back, then we'll move from there.

So the issue is that the Xbox knows which controller you're using. When you switch, it gets confused. You need to sign in again, as per the steps provided by Valiance, which tells the Xbox One that you are now on the other controller and therefore you can
talk again.

This is a byproduct of not having a 'player 1 controller' and a feature that allows you to pass a controller over to a friend (that Kinect recognises and sees) and it will re-assign that controller as being used by the second profile.
