Switching and adding a 3rd xbox

Can I share gold on all 3? More importantly can I play the same game on all 3(digital at same time)? Sometimes my wife likes to play....only 3 of us in the house.

We only have a few Disc copies, but GTA5 is huge for the kid...….and he has spent money on it. Does the money downloads stick with his gamertag or need be redownloaded to his new xbox? Both disc and downloaded games as he has spent on alotta games add ons.

I'm currently trying to get every game he currently plays on the xbox S with updates. I have moved any games I play(not much) to an external. I plan on him keeping his current "old" xbox intact with his external HD and just moving to his bedroom. Putting
the xbox S external on the xbox X, and just moving the S to his game room? Sound good...any ideas?

To answer those questions:

An account can only share to one single "Home Console". That with the ability of the "owner" signing in to any console and being able to download/play his games on any console as long as he is connected online, allows you to use the games and Gold membership
on two consoles (the account's "Home Console" and the console the "owner" is actually signed in on, no matter what console that is).

So with a third console coming into play, it won't work to share to two consoles.

As for the GTA V question: The money your kid spent is tied to his Gamertag and Microsoft Account. If the kid uses the same Microsoft Account email he used on the original Xbox, your kid can play on ANY Xbox console in the world and have access to his money
in GTA V.

Gaming progress is tied to the Gamertag Account, and will roam with the account to any console the kid signs in and connects online. The savegame will then downloaded from the Xbox Live cloud, and the kid will be able to continue playing on whatever console
they like.

This is true for disc and downloaded games (as long as the kid's account also owns the license to play the game).

As for moving games from any console to the X with an external drive, be aware that if a game is Xbox One X enhanced, the Xbox One X will have to download the additional assets before the game can be played.

You can prepare for that by going to the "Settings" of the "source" console, and under "System" go to "Backup and Transfer".

There you can enable the checkmark to download 4K game content, and the non-X console will then download the X enhanced game parts.

After that is done, you can really just swap the external drive to the Xbox One X, and the family can immediately play on the X right after unwrapping the console.

By the way: Make sure you already connected the Xbox One X online before putting it under the tree, as the console will have to download an initial update, which might take quite some time depending on your internet speed, as it will download up to 3 GB
of update data.

So to avoid that pesky update time, update the console in advance, and then wrap it up and put it under the tree.

You can use the home console feature to shared Gold Membership and games with only one user in your home unfortunately so you would need and additional subscription in this case. Also keep in mind that you can only only change which Xbox is assigned as your
home console 5 times a year so you wouldn't be able to keep changing it depending on who needs what content so don't try using that as a way of getting around the requirement because once those 5 uses have been used even Xbox Support cannot assist you.

Any content purchased on an account remains with that account. So your son will keep his content. He will just sign into the Xbox and his content will be there waiting for him including game saves. But if you have purchased the content on his behalf on your
account then you own that content and you must be signed in or that console must be your home console in order for him to be able to continue using it.

Unfortunately, the Gold and Game sharing features provided by the Xbox "Home" feature is limited to one other console.

Gold can only be shared on 1 console at a time. In order to use gold on 3 consoles you would need gold on at least 1 other account.

Anything you purchase on your account is tied to your account. So once your kid signs into a new console he can redownload GTA or anything else he has purchased with his account.

Better graphic and switch from 3rd to 1st like skyrim!.
