Switch profile associated with an email address?

I set up an account years ago on my xbox 360 and used my hotmail address. Somewhere along the way, my gmail address also got associated with that account. (No idea how that happened.) Anyhow, when I got an xbox one, I wanted to start 100% fresh with a new
account. So I set up a new account there and associated it only with my gmail address.

Now everything is fine when I use this profile/account within the console, but it seems impossible for me to log in on my laptop and control this account, because whenever I log in with either my hotmail or gmail address, it is only associated with my old
xbox profile.

So.... how can I login with my new xbox profile and/or completely delete my old xbox profile and my email association with that profile?

You can change the email address associated with Xbox Live profile:

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

yeah just create a new email address, go to xbox.com and change the email associated with your gamertag. heres the lnk for you.

Things seem a little confusing. You can't have two different accounts (new and old) with same Gmail address (user name) login. So, to fill in some of the back ground history, is it possible that when you originally set up the "old" account you used your Hotmail
(now Outlook.com) address? Also, is it safe to assume that when you say "laptop" you mean running Windows 10/8/7? If so, that could explain the why and how things in the back end got connected between Xbox Live and you laptop. If I understand you correctly,
you can login to your laptop with either your Hotmail or Gmail address. This would lead me to believe that your Gmail address (user name) is only a local account to the laptop and there is no back end mechanism for Google to tell Xbox Live that this email
address is already in use. Therefore, you were able to create a new Xbox Live account with the same old Gmail address. So, the real question is do you want just delete the stuff on your laptop from the old account, or do you want to migrate things over to
the new account. If it's the latter, migrate and save, things are significantly limited and much more involved. This why I strongly suggest, if you can, depending on where you live, set up a free appointment at your local
Microsoft Store so that they can help you directly with your Windows laptop and Xbox Live accounts.
