Switch from physical to downloadable game, and how to play without disc

Hello,

I recently bought a physical edition of Halo : master chief edition and i realised that physical games can't be played without disc. I am considering the bought of a numerical edition of the game but i have a few questions :

Is that as simple as "buying the numerical edition and play the game without CD" or will i have to delete and install the game again ? what will happen to my saves ? And if i have any DLC (like halo 3 : ODST) before buying a numerical copie will it be deleted
and should i buy it AGAIN ?

Generally speaking, how will the xbox one treat the dual physical/numerical edition of the same game on the same account ?

No I'm afraid not but if you buy Xbox games from the games market you can play without the disc as its downloadable content

Actually Microsoft did not listened carefully what customers wanted and suggested. Customers wanted play OFFLINE and wanted use pre-owned games without any restrictions. They did not said to Microsoft that other functions about digital games should be removed.
Actually it was opposite, this was good function. And because of DRM's there was even suggestions how Microsoft can do it without losing control.

SOLUTION WAS:

1. If you want play OFFLINE you always need your game on physical disc (except games what you bought digitally from Xbox Live).

2. If you want play without disc from your HDD you need to be connected Xbox Live or you need to do online check every 24h.

Very reasonable, don't you think?

This was solution. A Good solution. But someone felt offended and decided to punish every Xbox One user and also removed option to play games without physical disc.

 

If you are switching from physical to digital, then yes, you simply end up playing the game without a disc. That is the convenience behind digital purchases.

You shouldn't have to reinstall your game after buying it digitally, and already having installed it all with a disc. You may need to download any available updates, if available. If the game doesn't run for whatever reason, it never hurts to delete and
reinstall.

All of your game saves are automatically saved to the cloud storage of the account playing the games as long as you stay connected online. You should pick up right where you left off.

DLC is downloaded on top of the base installation; it will still be there after the transition. DLC is digital. All digitally-owned contents can be re-downloaded and reinstalled at any time (at no additional cost).

All game installations, regardless of how they are installed, can only be executed with a kind of "DRM key". This key is provided by the physical game disc, or by the currently logged-in account (if already purchased).
