Switch from headset to TV speaker

I have an Xbox One S (wife got it for me for Christmas) and just bought Turtle Beach Ear Force Recon 50X wired headset/microphone.

I really like how they work, yet I had one major hassle. When I decided I wanted to watch Netflix or a movie, I couldn't switch the sound to go to the TV speaker (55" Samsung Curve).

The headset uses a "standard" jack that plugs in the wireless Xbox One controller.

I called Xbox, but no one really knew what to do. I did finally get the sound on the TV, but I don't really know what I did or didn't do as far as settings and whatever. I don't have Kinect, so that's not an issue.

Does anyone out there know what I can/should do to make the switch less problematic?

Anyone know how to properly connect an XBO headset to PC?

I'm not sure if anyone's still interested but I think I finally figured it out. If you want to use the headset on W10 just for chat, click on the volume icon on the bottom right of the task board and above the volume slider, it says its playing through the headset, just click on that and switch it back to the tv/monitor/stereo speakers.

It works for the xbox chat headset and, though im still jarry-rigging it, seems to work on atleast the X30 TB headset.

You may find that you have to manually select the audio output on your TV.

If you go into the settings menu on your TV you will normally see two selections, TV speaker and External speaker. If you change the setting from TV speaker to External speaker this should switch off the in-built TV speakers and change the audio output
to the red & white phono sockets on the rear/side of the TV.

Therefore giving you your audio feed for your X12 headset.

 

When you plug a headset into the controller, it doesn't automatically mute the TV speakers. Both audio sources (headset, TV speakers) continue to play. You may have had the TV muted or HDMI/Optical audio disabled while you were using the headset and troubleshooting
your audio.
