I wish that was possible, but as it stands now, no that is not possible. That is a way to cut down on game sharing, and to ensure that folks actually purchased the game instead of sharing it exponentially.

No you cannot as you could switch to digital then give the disc away to someone who then gets it for free; they do the same thing and so on.

I wish! I ended up just taking all my disc based games to a trade-in store, and traded them all for Xbox gift cards that I used to re-purchase games digitally. Obviously, lost quite a bit of value, but I had already enjoyed most of those games, so the value
lost was not that big a deal to me.

Short answer: No.

The reason is, that otherwise people would buy a physical disc, convert it to digital at no cost, and then sell the disc to someone else, who would then convert the disc to digital at no cost, and sell the disc again.

This can go on until the whole world owns the game, while the game maker only has sold one disc copy of the game, which would mean a huge financial loss for the game maker.

So no, because of that, you can't convert a disc game to a digital game "without extra cost".
