  1. Switch a gamertag to a new email

I have two emails, one of them I made when I was young and no longer use, and the second is my primary email. The problem is my main xbox gamertag is associated with the old email and I would like to transfer it to the newer email. The new email automatically
created a new gamertag that I do NOT want and would like to delete permanently and transfer the old gamertag with all of my game progress. I've tried adding the new email to the gamertag, but get the error it is already in use for the gamertag I don't want.

    :)

Accidently Created Account using the EmailI wanted

Here's a suggestion and it does involve creating a new email address... sorry.

Create a new dummy email address then change the email associated with the new account you just created with the dummy email address. Finally change the email address on your main account with the updated email address.

unlink Windows live ID & Gamertag

    Hi Jaguar!

Unfortunately you cannot unlink accounts - what is recommended here is to make a third "dummy" account, and use it to move your profile as follows:

    "Old" Email

    "New" Email

    "Dummy" Email.

Move your gamertag from "New" Email to "Dummy" Email. Then move your gamertag from "Old" Email to "New" Email. At this point you can then just trash Dummy email, and your new email will have your old gamertag Switch a gamertag to a new email :)

You can find more info on moving your account here:

Hope this makes sense! Switch a gamertag to a new email :)

  4. Switch a gamertag to a new email

OK let me explain a couple of things.

The only thing that is possible is to switch what email is associated with an account it is not possible to transfer an xbox profile to a different microsoft account.

With that being said and to make things easier I will do a little key here

A1= New account that has current email

A2= Old account that has old email and Gamer tag that you want to keep

A1- can not be a MS server email (@hotmail, @outlook, @msn, @live.com) if they are this will not work and if you do this you will lose access to that email FOREVER.

So to get A1 email to be associated with A2 and its gamertag you would need to know the email and password to both accounts DO NOT POST them here in this public forum you just need to know what they are.

ALL this is going to do is change what email you use to sign into each account it will not change anything else like Password, security proofs, current payment options, subscriptions, purchases, game saves.

Now that we have that out of the way follow these steps:

    1. Sign into A1 (if not a MS server email) at account.live.com/addassocid you will then want to create a NEW (dummy) outlook email for this account

    2. Make new (dummy) email the primary email.

ONLY DO THE FOLLOWING STEP IF IT IS NOT A
    MS SERVER EMAIL

    3. Remove email that you want on A2. This will now free up that email from being associated with a MS account so that you can put it on A2

    4. Sign into A2 at account.live.com/addassocid and add an existing email The one that we just took off of A1

    5. Make it the primary for A2

    6. Remove old email unless you want to keep it on there.

To simplify, the new email you have... Make a Microsoft account with it, careful not to generate a new gamertag while making the account.

Then switch the gamertag you want onto that MS account.
