so iv got an old gamertag under an old email of mine that i haven't used in awhile an just wanting to know if i can swap my old gamertag to my new email without paying for changes?

So in a example

- download profile B to console

- wait 30 days

- Create new microsoft account C

- move gamer profile B to account C (this will free up account B from any profiles)

- move profile A to account B

Hi there,

to remove that gamer profile from that Microsoft account, you will need to move that gamer profile to a different Microsoft account, you can do this via the xbox console. You will first need to download that profile onto the console to be able to move it.
But after a profile is downloaded it will take 30 days before it can be moved to a different Microsoft account (this is a security measure)

After that you can move that account to a different Microsoft account to free up the Microsoft account you want to use for your gamer profile and then you can move your gamer profile to your Microsoft account.

If you're talking about adding the gamertag to the account with the name "Sharkey xo", then no. You need to pay to change it.

If you want to use the name on an email account that isn't attached to an existing gamertag, then you won't have to pay.

Right, well that's because the save files are tied to the Gamertag (profile) itself and are non-transferrable. Even if you change the associated email addresses (Microsoft Account, or MSA), it remains tied to the same profile.

As such, the only solutions are that you either continue to use each other's profiles or, and this would be recommended, you sort out who's using which profile henceforth and bite the bullet as regards starting over for particular games.

The latter means that everything is right going forward and the problem is not exacerbated.

I know that's not the ideal solution you were looking for, but is the best in these circumstances.

What I would try is to have him change his tag to what he wants, and from there, keep checking for his older tag yourself to see when it gets released and is available. Once it shows as available, you can change your own tag to it.

I guess you could maybe let your daughter continue to use your account, create yourself a new account and as Netflix and Amazon video use their own login rather than your Xbox login you'd at least be able to watch those without logging your daughter out
each time. Not an ideal solution but it would work.

Or

You sign into your daughters account and use Netflix/Amazon video on that maybe. That may be a problem though with regards to adult content on those streaming services.

You would have to change Tag2's gamertag to something else in order to free it up. There's no way to completely remove the account from the server. So you'd have to pay for 2 changes.
